Started collecting rocks from Lake Superior this spring. After four months of collecting and Rotary tumbling, I picked up a Raytech vibratory tumbler to try giving my rocks that “ wet look” kind of shine using aluminum oxide. Kind of disappointed.

Welcome DennyUP, from Western New York. From your post I figure that your tumbles were less than hoped for. Please ask away, we're more than happy to share our successes after many failures. You can get that "wet look" using just a rotary tumbler; it's just a bit harder than using a vibe. Good luck with this batch.

Welcome from Western Canada. I used to live in West Michigan.
You'll find a lot of information here. I will likely stalk your posts as I am looking for that wet shine as well and have yet to achieve it, unless doing it by hand. I am jealous you got a vibe. Eager to hear how it turns out because my lazy brain keeps telling me that is the missing link for my own stones.
The real challenge here in this community is self-care. Reading all the amazing advice, but not being able to put it into practice because your tumbler is in the middle of a batch for the next 7 days will make your head spin!

Welcome from Cadillac Mich. Learning a bit on cutting and polishing here, although I've been into Geology/Paleontology for years.
