mohs : "can tell you this.... those ancients had lots of patience & knew their rock" Ed, I think that's why the call it the Stone Age. I'm in awe when I look at the amazing things the ancients did with stone, from the massive blocks at Stonehenge and other sites with colossal stones; to the intricate obsidian and jade artifacts of the Olmec, Maya and other cultures. I sometimes think that despite all our high-tech lapidary tools and supposed knowledge, we're the unsophisticated ones, mere beginners.

That is so right gemfeller It hard to imagine what a Neanderthal would think if came upon a modern lapidary cab ? Sure it would be a wonderment Butte they may think it unnatural also Skip it across the lake hhhmmmpphhh-- we like our rough pecked to a fine shape w/ a natural finis ` And if they could know of all the things we do to rocks w/ our fancy grits & machines They may think we have loco rocks in our head No use for all that foolisness...mo
