Thanks for posting this Tela! So...my wife, who is not a sci-fi junky...nor very good with actors names brought this up to me a couple weeks ago as she must have seen something on Facebook. She said, "I saw on FB that guy we saw on TV is going into space." Which of course prompted one of my favorite pastimes...guess what or who the heck she's talking about! So I ask, "Can you be more specific?" She responded, "The older guy that has the voice you're often imitating...Denzel Washington, I think. " So, my first thought, and of course I say my first thought trying to give her a little ribbing, "Babe, not all dark skinned people look alike. Are you talking about Morgan Freeman?" "Maybe" she responded. Then quickly she stated, "Wait...no, he's not dark-skinned!" So, after another 20 questions of this really fun guessing game, I finally determine it's William Shatner who's going into space! LOL Fast forward to this morning. I see your post about this happening today...so I mention it to her. She says, "May the force be with him!" - I let her know that's totally the wrong sci-fi movie! LOL Live long and prosper Bill!

William Shatner has returned to Earth safely. Loved hearing his description of space. I watched the launch, pretty cool. If anyone should go to space, it's Captain Kirk.

I watched the video. Seeing WS just looking oput the window in awe was very special. When he was describing his adventure and broke down in tears, I got a little misty, too. I love William Shatner. He's a real treasure.

I watched it all, too. I love William Shatner. Always have. At 90, I'm happy that he was able to realize a dream.
While they were blasting off I was telling Vince about the Twilight Zone episode, Nightmare at 20,000 feet. He didn't remember it.
So, in honor of Bill:

I remember that episode. I always liked the Twilight Zone.
As for going up in the Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket last week, Shatner could have gotten to the stars even sooner if he had gone along with an offer from Richard Branson, boss of the Virgin business conglomerate and its space tourism arm Virgin Galactic.
Back in 2013, it was claimed that Branson had once approached Shatner to ask him if he wanted to go to space aboard one of the company's new spaceplanes—the SpaceShipTwo, which at the time had recently completed its first powered flight. The company would not reach space for around five more years.
William Shatner said he turned down that offer because he SAID he was frightened of flying. Later he admitted that he didn't want to pay for it, lol. Word is, he was a guest (read, did not have to pay) for the Blue Origin spaceflight.

Any one of these billionaires should give him a free ride for all the free advertising and PR they get for being the first one to really send Capt. Kirk into space.

Guess I'm a bit cynical but as an old PR-Publicity guy I think Bezos pulled off the best publicity stunt of the decade. Talk about branding! I suspect the names Captain Kirk and Blue Origin will be linked in any future ad/publicity campaigns for his "space" tourism.
Bezos may be a jerk in some ways but he's a genius at marketing. I take my hat off to him. Brilliant move!
