I feel like I'll eventually make it out there, but it's a good 3.5 hour drive for me. Curious if anyone would recommend and in reality how many 5 gallon buckets do I need to bring lol. thegemshop.com/

Three-and-a-half hours? Hell, I drove halfway across the country in 2008 and all I bought was a calendar. Didn’t hurt that it was on the way to Menasha for the first big agate show. Don’t forget the calendar.

I've been there several times, definitely worth the drive. Over 100 barrels & bins in the backyard full of rough. Their basement is full as well. It's a cute part of town as well with many nice shops and restaurants so if you have a significant other to bring along make a full day of it. Last time me & MsAli went we realized we need a whole day, several hours just for the gem shop 👍

It's a good thing we live further than 3 hours away

Well couple buckets full of cash on the way in one bucket of high grade leaving. Don't forget to go in the basement.

I have wanted to go there for many years. Every time a trip was planned something more important came up or my traveling partner cancelled.
It is only about 2 hours from me.

The Gem Shop has been around a long time. 40 years ago I went there and found Tennessee Agate and bought all they had and brought it back to Tennessee with me. They have a lot of stuff and have been good to work with while at there shop. I would not order from them remotely since I believe (from experience) that their color description is different than mine. Shipping is too high for such a mistake.

Son Of Beach We went to The Gem Shop yesterday again. I remembered to take a few pictures for anyone that hasn't been there. This is the rock yard. Somewhere around 150 bins/barrels of rough rock... And here's 2 photos of the basement. Probably the same amount of selection, several overlaps from outside but smaller pieces in some cases. Notice the Turkish stick agate in the last picture. $35/pound and that was at least 20#

I would love to visit The Gem Shop in person and meet with the owners and miners there. I wish I were one of the ones who digs the rocks out of the ground. I don't know for sure how many 5 gallon buckets full I have gotten from there, but It's more than a couple for sure.
