Hummingbirdstones, unfortunitely I have no clue as to stone type or druzy type. I purchased the rock many years ago for the dendritic properties and didn't see the crystal face until the mud was washed off. I liked the crystal color and cut and saved the face. I left this piece on top of a stack of used 8" flat laps for a number of years and only cut it at the last minute when my fluorspar cab got dropped on the way to the camera set-up.

Now for real. This Polkadot was my first choice, had a lot going on and a lot of sparkle. Unfortunately too weak at the druzy to survive. Remnants will become intarsia eventually. Found the piece of Laguna Sunday, Kevin Kessler had it at the Wickenburg show. Lots of red and hematite like the old crazy lace in this piece. Glued to a board and in the saw Monday. Lots more with sparkly white druzy but I like the hematite black and red in this one, even if it turned everything red and I had to chase it a ways further than originally intended. Bad cell phone pic. Cab pics, druzy first. Top view. Couldn't get the depth of the clear agate next to the druzy, And finally the pic I want to use for the contest front view. Fantastic cabs this go around, whoever wins is earning it for sure.

Man, almost ran out of time this month. My entry is some sort of dendritic agate I believe. This came way courtesy of fencejumper. (thank you again!) I had some issue with undercutting and even more trouble photographing jt. It really has alot of sparkle. Not the actual slab but was the cut after it. Preform, girdle and final result. Good luck everyone!

A whole lot of awesome crystal filled cabs here. Voting will be very tough, once again.

The black plumes say Texas and the light color around some of the plumes say it could be Marfa Plume agate - this would also be consistent with undercutting and difficult photographing I'll list it as black plume agate unless Paul jumps on and confirms the identity.

I agree and I am definitely going to kick myself in the rear and get a cab going into the next contest. That being said 8 entries in a specialized material+skill challenge isn't bad - I was worried early on to be honest but I think it turned out great!
