Hey y’all I was cutting up some rocks my sister found for me in Grand Marais, Minnesota and I came across this cool looking rock. I want to say it’s some type of Porphyry but I don’t want to assume anything. Can anyone identify this one? Biggest piece I have and it is shown wet and in natural sunlight semi-dry this is an exterior piece

Porphyry would probably be correct, it's pretty common around here

The black is probably hornblende or augite

Porphyritic granite is all over the beaches up there and in general all around MN. The black in thm are as rmf said amphibole, plus sometimes mica.

Similar rock, right? It tumbled alright. Not a perfect polish, but worth tumbling.

Now that would be some cool stuff for my backsplash.
