This summer A.J. went to a rowing (sometimes called Crew) camp to try something new. Honestly we pushed him into it after he didn't choose any other physical/outdoor activity. Very unexpectedly he fell in love with it, so much so that he wanted to sign up for the Fall Program. This session just culminated in a race this past Saturday. It was a balmy 34 degrees at race time. Most of the participants in his program were rookies so there were some bumps along the way but it was very fun to watch and the kids had a blast. The Start- Note the middle boat (A.J.'s) is almost sideways. Rowing like drunken sailors. Everyone back on track- The all-girls boat, out of frame to the right (oars visible) in the lead. All-boys boat pulling ahead. The coed boat in the back struggling, at one point they ran aground. A.J. in the red sweatshirt/ green hat. PULLLLLL!!!!! In sync (pretty much). Girls catching up. Unfortunately for them one of their oar holders broke at about this point. A.J. admitted that the girls probably would have won if it wasn't for that. The End.

Great commentary on those photos! It's great when the kids surprisingly discover something they love.
