Just ran across this auction. Not in perfect condition, but if you are close, you can probably get a good deal.

That Genie looks like it's been sitting in a swamp for a few years. $400 RESERVE NOT MET w/a buy it now of $1600 That listing page also shows a VEVOR cabber for $1240. www.ebay.com/itm/144146286042Never heard of it. Says it has a 2hp motor which is obviously a crock. 2 horses pumpin' out a 180W of rated power. Just scoped out some other prices: $2800 Diamond Pacific's list for a Genie $2160 Kingsley North's price for a Genie - 1/2hp motor $1400 Kingsley's price for a CabKing - 1/4hp motor $1290 Kingley's house brand - 1/3hp motor jasoninsd

I've been pondering Kingsley North's house brand model...

Looks like they copied the adaptor shafts like a Genie. I almost got an engraving vice/ball from vevor off of Amazon but decided to wait for better. Still don't have one but eventually...

DP's list price for the Titan is about 4500 but it looks like you can buy one in the 3500 range. Even with it needing a set of new wheels, almost $1000 from Kingslely, and the other things that need fixing, the BIN price isn't too bad though I'd try getting for less by bidding rather than buy-it-now. Holy cow! I just saw the price of a Titan motor is $900 at Johnson Brothers! Anyone who buys this better hope that the motor isn't on it's way out! The seller says they have already replaced the bearings

If I lived closer, I would try bidding. It's not often us East Coasters see lapidary equipment. That's why I posted it.

True! Lapidary equipment on the east coast is almost as rare as chicken teeth!

It seems like a good way to waste everyone’s time by not making a sale. A p-a way of getting people to BIN, perhaps?

I was worried you’d started doing crazy stuff, like sleeping. Still don’t get it. Seems easier to set the minimum at something you’d accept. Life’s complicated enough.

I would set a buy it now price at the "retail" value in case someone's willing to fork out the high price. I would set the reserve price at the amount I was willing to actually accept for the cue. Then you watch how high the bidding actually goes to see if it's anywhere close to your reserve price. If it's not, then the market is not a "sellers' market, and you hold onto the item until it is...or make the decision to lower your reserve to bring it closer to what the highest bid was. Essentially it's a "feeler" auction...since something's only "worth" what someone's willing to pay for it... ETA - I'll get some sleep when I die...

I get it now, but still seems like too much work when I’m already running on empty. For me, I’ll set a price I think is fair, and it either sells or it doesn’t, but then I’m not selling anything high end, or trying to make money — just want my hobby to cover some of its expenses. I’m also holding out for the Big Sleep. ETA, I lied. The cat is hypnotizing me. My eyelids have gotten heavy….

Essentially it's a "feeler" auction...since something's only "worth" what someone's willing to pay for it... ETA - I'll get some sleep when I die... I never understood reserves either! Just set your starting price at or near the minimum you'd be willing to let the item go for. Ebay charges 7.5% of the reserve price regardless of whether it sells or not. I think that is in addition to the 12.55% final value fee too. Seems like an expensive way to see what the market will bear. I just looked at the Titan auction, the bids are up to $610 and reserve not yet met. So if the reserve doesn't get met it will cost the seller at least $45.75 to find out their reserve price was too high and they still have the grinder to sell. The only thing a reserve price might be good for is you can start the auction at a low price and hopefully build excitement. You may be hesitant to bid or BIN $900 for a $1000 item, but who wouldn't put in a $10 bid for it!? You just have to hope enough people get invested in the thought of owning the item that they'll keep bidding it up higher than they might gone if the item started at $900. I think it is called the psychology of ownership. Once you place a bid, you see the item as "yours" and you defend against someone "taking it away" from you.

I do not understand some people. You would think if you wanted to sell it you would at least clean it up a bit. As is it makes a statement that it has been so well taken care of. I just took all the trays and covers for three Genies from our shop to the self service car wash. I spend $8.00 and never had to take them out of the pickup bed. Just wiped down the rest of the units with WD-40 on a rag. I would sure want to see that unit run for an hour before I bid.

A little bit of elbow grease making it cleaner means it is worth more in my eyes.

The unit looked a little dirty to me in the pic. You said when you got it, it looked "brand new" and you paid $35 for it. It seems to me that cleaning up the unit cost your seller a few bucks!

Those prices are usually not realized. I'm curious as to where he set his reserve... and yeah, he should have cleaned it up.
