I bought my foredom in 2016 and have probably only used it a couple of dozen times and it's been sitting unused for the past couple of years, so I have no idea when or how this cord/wire/protector/thingy came off or where it went. I'd like to replace it obviously before anything happens to the wire connection. Does anyone know what to call it and if it's something that can be bought aftermarket? I have an email in to Foredom customer service so we'll see what they say too but I don't want to wait too long because I'm probably going to list the unit for sale soon.

I have no idea what to call that (cord connector thingy, maybe), but did you look all the way down your cord? I just looked at mine and it's on there solid, but the only way it would come off the cord is if it were cracked.

Tommy. I bet you could whittle that missing piece, or make it out of thermoplastic ( I forget the name).

My theory (hope?) is that it is two pieces that click together as they are fitted into the hole.

I'm hoping to find the OEM piece because like I said I think I'm going to sell it soon. It was fun buying it for something like $375 but has always been way overkill for what few little holes I drilled with it.

So I just got off the phone with Foredom - it's a $0.33 grommet and the nice lady is sending me one for free - wouldn't even let me pay for postage. Good people do exist

Amazon has them, Tommy . Do a search for 'Power Cord Strain Relief'.
Happy to see that you just found a solution seconds before I posted!

That is a quality company you should post that in vender reviews. Always nice to see someone cares.

I was going to suggest Sugru, but $0.33, really free, is WAY cheaper. Fun stuff though!! Check it out. sugru.com/

Always trying to make things last a little longer and not throw stuff away. That looks and works similar to epoxy ribbon. Forget who makes it, it was so long ago. It's probably still made? Years ago, on a trip with DH to visit his relatives in MO and nearby, the gas tank on his 1969 Plymouth Fury III developed leak. Having nowhere to drain it to fix it, or wanting to pay a garage to do it, he kneaded some epoxy ribbon, and sealed the leak with it. Many years later, that car went to the junk yard with that green epoxy putty still sealing the gas tank!
