I've been trying to come up with a way to carve worry stones and it has been hit and miss. These are some of my hits. #1(multi-worry 2-sided) #2 #3 #4 (Many of the carvings are similar to this piece. I found a stone in a river that was concave on 3 sides. It was sort of a fidget/worry stone because I could switch up where I was rubbing the rock. Should I call it a stress stone? Multi-worry? 99 Problems but the rock ain't one? Haha.) #5 #6 (multi-worry 2-sided) #7 #8 #9
#10
#11 (multi-worry 3 sides. I did very little carving as this piece had a bit of a ridge on one side. I went with the stone and created a concave space on the flat edge and then just smoothed out the ridge so that I could tumble it without getting grit/polish caught in the transition from horizontal to vertical.)
I am sort of documenting my process in another thread for my own reminders as well as sharing.

I think you should worry no more...it looks like you're getting the process down!

Those look good. One question: given that you’re not going for the classic oval shape, do you need to beat yourself up about the divot? Just the basic, polished pocket rock might be just fine. You might even consider completely smooth vs polished, but textured. Both have something going for them.

I actually have a 4-5 rocks that I was experimenting with a while ago, adding a few holes drilled and carved lines to make textures. Of course, that was before I learned those sort of things make excellent carriers of grit and polish. My river polished rock that inspired the multifaceted divots has a few cracks that are a good distraction.
Your thoughts have me wondering if I could polish one side of a rock and leave the other unpolished. I suppose that would be easy if I had a lapidary machine versus a tumbler. The petrified wood would be cool if polished on one side and left wood-like on the other.

Wood, Dino bone, etc I love that way. One smooth side, one naturally textured side. Both of those, too, sometimes you can feel both on the polished side. If you can’t feel it with your fingertips, try rubbing lightly against your lips.

Those look good. I always have some rocks in my pocket. Some are polished, some are natural. I like water washed smooth ones, quartz type points and rocks with some very fine druzy.
Some are pet wood that only went through stage one in rotary, leaving some ridges. I like the texture.
