Found this cool location map in a FB group. It lists various Great Lakes rock/fossil hunting locations and what to find there.

Beth, this was a REALLY cool find! I wish they had something like this for Fairburn hunting...except more detailed...and a bunch of "X" marks the spot kinda thing! LOL

If one researches glacial movements, many of the same rocks can be found in more inland locations.
Jason. That type of a map would be a dream for many.

Thanks for posting this, Beth!
It would be fun to have the poster hung up on the wall with a bowl of representative rocks in a bowl below it.

Nice! I'll have to remember to bring a copy when I next visit my daughter who lives near #44 (Rhyolite, brecciated quartz, epidote, jasper, pudding stones, septarian. And, of course, "BEST SPOTS"!)

This is interesting and gives me some hope for hunting next year. I feel like a lot of the beaches on the west coast of Michigan are very hit and miss with the amount of rocks. Most of the bigger beaches are nearly all sand and there are some little beaches that you can hunt for hours. I know I'm in one of areas that has the least amount of good rocks, but the it makes the finding even more fun. I get overwhelmed on some of those rockier beaches up north, like my eyes can't even adjust on what to look for. I'm really surprised 44-46 is the author's best spots...say roughly Whitehall to Saugatuck? I would never have guessed but now I have to check it out...it's still a gorgeous area. LazerFlash if you can somehow manage to time it right after the ice melts there is usually easy pickings left over from the ice push in the winter. February 27th of last year
Compared to March 13th Water is still stupid painfully cold though lol, bring a scoop and some waders

Lots to pick and choose from.
And, it should be just barely warm enough to keep my wife from complaining about the Michigan cold.
