So, I will say right off the bat I owe a big thank you to a bunch of people for being willing to give tons of advice on the forum, behind the scenes, as well as video reviews on YouTube. Jugglerguy - Rob, your video review was the final push I needed to go with this particular machine. holajonathan, hummingbirdstones, hummingbirdstones2, Starguy, - Thank you all for your input and advice which helped me pick the right machine for me. Kingsley North Cabber 6 Nova is now setup and ready to go...and I'll post some pics of the first cabs I finished today in the cabochon forum here in a little bit. I was so excited to get things started, I forgot to take a picture of the machine before it got dirty! LOL - So I took one as I was breaking in the new wheels with a piece of Flor de Durazno Lace Agate...so that red is from the Rock, not my knuckles! LOL

Well that didn't take long. I bet you had a little hop in your step as you were setting it up. As you know from your slant cabber, the hard wheels won't cut like that for long, but the soft wheels will get better. After you get a little more time with it I will be very interested to hear how you like wheels vs flat lap. I don't think the DP hard wheels are anything special compared to cheaper alternatives, but the Nova wheels are really good once broken in. They are nice and spongy, just plain work well, and last a very long time even if you abuse them like me (by pressing very hard on them). I am expecting a bunch of cabs with big swoops and inside curves! See posts by fencejumper for the best big swoops I have seen.

(Not!). I'll get there though...soon enough. I was super stoked today. I'll update some things tomorrow...the positives and some negatives I've noticed already today...

I want a little more time with it so I don't have that "honeymoon" feeling and overlook some things I shouldn't. I know the negatives aren't going to outweigh the positives...I can say that much already. I should have some thoughts ready by tomorrow sometime...

Jealous!! I just operate on a diamond pacific genie 6in. Let us know what you think. Might push me to upgrade. The designs are different, but I wouldn't consider the Kingsley North machine to necessarily be an improvement over the Genie. It costs a little less new, which is definitely a plus, but might not have quite as good of resale value as a Genie, if that matters. I haven't used the Kingsley North machine, so maybe my opinion is pointless. But other than the possible advantage of drip water feed (I have no problem with the Genie's geyser system), I can't imagine how any 6" machine could actually perform a whole lot better than the Genie. Mine runs very quietly, very smoothly, and is very powerful -- as it should, seeing as I paid over $2000 for it in late 2019. I understand that the older Genie's had a 1/4 hp motor and were somewhat underpowered. Maybe you've got one of those models. The newer ones with a 1/2 hp Baldor motor are very powerful. With all that said, if I were buying my first cabbing machine, I very well might choose the one Jason got over a Genie. It's about $300 cheaper, and ergonomics and wheel spacing might be better. I've gotten pretty comfortable using my Genie, however. Just my two cents, even though no one asked for it.

I can't speak to the performance of a Genie...and I don't have enough experience with this machine to try and draw any type of comparison. I will say this machine has a 1/3 hp motor as compared to the 1/2 motor on newer Genie's. I know you said you didn't have an issue with the geyser system...but I like the fact this machine only supplies clean water to the wheels and disks. Whether the geyser system delivers contaminants to the wheels - which I'm sure is highly debatable - or not, it's something I don't have to worry about. Thanks Russ! Thanks Tela! Congrats!
You're going to have so much fun with that machine!
Thanks Robin! I can't wait to get the "basics" down, so I can try some of the more advanced things this machine can do. Thanks Ali! Thanks Evan! (And birthday...and Anniversary...and Christmas...for maybe a couple years! LOL) That's awesome jasoninsd ! It looks all nice and clean... You've gotta fix that! Lol! Enjoy! Thanks Perk! The "clean" look lasted all of about 12 minutes after it was all assembled and running for the first time! LOL

It took that long? 😃 I can't wait to see more of your cabs! My setup is probably below freezing right now so I'm not sure about how much longer I can cab. Yours looks nice and warm! (I am not jealous, I am not jealous...) 🤣
