Sadly I will not be able to come this year. On Jan 4th I am going to undergo a total hip replacement. I will be out of commission for a while after that and can't go anywhere until the PT is over.

I should be able to make it with my wife and her friend in tow. Members here should post their booth info so I and others can locate you. I know where Tony is in Desert Gardens lol. I can’t pass by his space without buying something!

I will be there. I am selling again at PowWow along with Russ (nowyo) and my friend Frank. My booth numbers are 366 and 367. My business name is Artisan Rockhound. If you come to my booth please say hi and tell me you are an RTH member in case I haven't met you before. Looking forward to seeing a lot of people and know that those who are not able to be there will be missed. Diane

We haven't been to Quartzite yet but it's on the list of next places to go. I thought it was a annual show... wasn't there just one a few weeks ago?

I thought it was a annual show... wasn't there just one a few weeks ago? the part that us rock hounds are interested in runs from early January to the end of February with overlapping show schedules. Make sure you look at the link to the schedule in the other Quartzite thread or just google Quartzite 2022. The best parts of the show run from mid January to early/mid February. Try to schedule around the Pow Wow if possible. Don’t miss Desert Gardens either, great vendors and deals are there too!

Friday 1/21, Led by: Tommy & Eva - (exact time/meeting place TBD) Brenda area for agate, high clearance with good AT tires, expect driving in rocky washes and car scratching brush My friend Walter and I would be very interested in this. I would not mind if I was in my own 4Runner, but due to flying in we'll be in a rented 4Runner so can't scratch it. So if anyone else is going on this and has room for 2 others we would sure be appreciative.

The Suzuki is fine in the clearance and nimble categories, but finding a wheel/tire combo to replace the 16" easily bent steel rims and basic M&S tires has been a head scratcher for the tire shop I usually use. We'll hopefully be there in a van anyways so we have a place to crash.

I hear you both and apologize - if this comes together right we'll be in a pickup truck with two large dogs. Several years ago last time we went out there as a group I believe it was zarguy had a couple of friends who took a newer car out there and at the end of the trip the dude was in deep shit with his wife over all the new "desert pinstriping" haha.

I believe a vehicle is to be used and not pampered, so all my vehicles show things like that, and I know the screech of ocotillo stems through paint from Big Bend area.
Have plenty of marks on my mine from getting a little too high up on Cerro Pedernal. At one point I had one leg out of an open door trying to prevent my 4Runner from falling slightly downhill against this tree during a nasty rough steep turn. Didn't work but at least I didn't rip the door off and only damaged the body panels. My daughter yelled "Was it worth it Dad?" and I said yes as I got a lot of good rocks! You have to have the disease...

Just changed my rental from a 4Runner in only 2WD to a Jeep Wrangler for almost same price which I think only comes in 4WD. So we will be going for it with you and if things get too scratchy will get out there and search or turn back or whatever. The short wheelbase will also allow me to dodge between things more.
We are overnighting in Blythe. I see that is only maybe 100 miles as crow flies from where I have done lots of desert rockhounding over by Amboy and Ludlow. If desert around Blythe/Quartzite is anything like that, then I almost fear it---millions of pieces of jasper and chalcedony just lying on top of the ground in all directions. I've got a few hundred pounds in storage and hope to be very selective about collecting any more. Of course I say that every time I go out...

Since you are going to overnight in Blythe I figured I'd mention to you that there is a time difference between Blythe and Quartzsite just in case you plan to meet someone at a certain time. We've experienced time difference difficulties before when we planned a rock trip so figured it'd be worth mentioning just in case. I doubt I'll be able to make the rock trip because I'm selling at PowWow but hopefully will be able to get to the BBQ.

Thanks for that heads up because I've made plenty of time-zone screwups in the past!
A few years back we took Amtrak from Kansas to Flagstaff before hiking in Grand Canyon. Started in CST, went into MST twice, and when in New Mex had to change temporarily to something else. The conductor had to announce changing our clocks so many times it drove us crazy.

The reason is instead of my lifted Tacoma with it's glorious desert pin-striping, it looks like we will end up coming in my wife's new Suburu. It has AWD but it doesn't have the ground clearance AND it's brand new and we can't get it all scratched up. Sadly it comes down to gas money and dogs ... gas in the Suburu at 34mph would come in about $300 less ($500 vs. $200 total) than my truck round trip. Plus the dogs don't really fit in my truck and the plan I was hatching to put a camper shell on is not coming to fruition. This might change but for now I have removed that trip from the first post.

Well, I can drive the jeep and you could ride with us if that solves the problem and others could follow.

That offer was not including animals. I have a dog and love dogs but would not permit them in a rental.
