I purchased the lot o tumbler and bolted it to the garage floor. We tried using the tumbler this week and made it through two 12 hour cycles. However, the motor began making a disturbing sound and shut off. I tried plugging it in again and it continues to shut off. Could the motor be bad after minimal use? Can someone share a video link that would help us with troubleshooting the tumbler? Thanks in advance for any help. I have tons of rocks that I would love to tumble and so disappointed.

So…how far down did you push the barrel?? Do you have a single or a double? If double…BOTH barrels must be full. Did you make sure the weights in the fans were at the same starting point before using?
Push the barrel so that the line around the top third of the barrel matches the line of the red frame…but is still visible. Top lid should be *slightly* canted forward.
Also how full was the tumbler? Too full could be a problem??
I’m pretty new…but this is where I would start.

Also, definitely call the seller and see what they think. It’s possible you got a dud. Not sure how likely, but definitely possible.

It has been documented they have been having motor issues lately. Definitely sounds like a bad motor it shouldn’t shut off no matter where the weights or barrel is.

Thank you CLERocks and knave for your comments. This is a one barrel machine. I just plugged it in again this morning and it works, but I suspect that it will stop working again if I try using it for very long. It seems that this particular machine is not one where the motor is expected to shut off. I think that the problem is not too much or too little rocks in the barrel or the placement of the barrel. I do wonder if the springs should be propped up higher.

Kbgavin. Next time it shuts off, can you carefully feel how hot is the motor shell?

Pic with the motor ID plate/sticker or the motor serial# would help. Maybe the motor has a heat fuse, description points that way. Asking to exchange it for another seems like the best option.

Following up on the Callway Vibration Lot o Tumbler.
I appreciate all comments and suggestions. I was able to run this tumbler for about 3 hours today. I checked on it every ten minutes. I was hopeful that simply adjusting the springs was all that I needed to do. It shut off and would not start up again. The motor was warm but not unusually hot. I called the company where I purchased the tumbler and ordered a new motor. We have had the tumbler well past the 90 day warranty.
It sounds like replacing the motor is not too difficult but I am sure it will be an extra challenge since it is attached to our garage floor.
I may create a video of my attempt to replace the motor ....with the hope of helping others.
