Hello from who knows where? I am retired and split time between the boat, RV and the dirt house located in Tennessee. In December Itook my 8 year old twin granddaughters camping in Ashville. We did snow tubing, hot springs and on a rainy day indoor gem mining. The twins are rock nuts and pick up treasures (rocks) everywhere we camp and hike. The guy at the gem mine separated the rocks and recommended polishing some. I have a 20 year old Thumler's Model A-R2 that I used to polish brass that I plan to help the twins polish their rocks after I gain some info about grit and media/filler etc. I hope you don’t mind silly questions as I know near nothing about what I am doing.

Welcome to the forum from Northern Arizona!
I'm not a tumbler, but we have a world class tumblers here on the board that are always happy to answer questions. To get you started, you might want to look through the tumbling tutorial section for some information.

Plenty of people here can help. Also, check the archives in that google search box on the upper left.

Beautiful thing about being here? None of us knew what we were doing when we started either. Lots of helpful folks and Hi from Georgia.

Welcome from Charles Town WV. (Think John Brown's pre-Civil War raid.)
I have learned a lot from the folks here, but also via trial and error. Don't be shy about asking for advice/help, though.
As rockjunquie pointed out, a quick Search can often answer your question, before you even ask it. Or, it can lead to a more intelligently-asked question. This forum by itself is a remarkable resource.

Welcome... Tumblers for brass and tumblers for rock material are different in set up and require different working conditions .. Might have to invest in a different tumbler, that does tumble rocks ... The place to get to, is the tumble forum on here... Good luck.
