So, since I barely started my first load, I thought I'd use the wait time to practice another skill that interest me (but I completely fail at and I'm super frustrated with), my photography. I figured some of the specimens I do not plan on tumbling might make a good subjects. I honestly have not really sat down and tried to identify any of these. They are just things I've picked up on my hikes. I'll try to list where I picked them up at. First up, this one I picked up on a trail near Globe, AZ. I think it's some sort of mica sandwiched between some sort of sand stone. It's pretty delicate.

I'm absolutely no help on IDs. I can usually tell you what color your rock is...but past that I'm not much help! LOL Your photography skills are extremely good, in my opinion! If you haven't already seen it, there's a "macro" thread on here with some amazing pictures from some pretty skilled people on here. I think you'll fit in well!

I pick up the shinny rocks or the pretty colored rocks or ones that are just different. I have no clue what they are the majority of the time. And thank you. (I think that's a blush-y face) I'm still learning on the photography thing. I have been trying off and on for about 5 years. I see something in my head, take a picture of it, and then it does not come out how I pictured it. I want it to come out like some nat-geo photograph and in my brain it looks like it was taken by a two year old with a polaroid. I get frustrated and set the camera down for a while. I know it's all about practice and learning how to edit. Macros are one of my favorite styles of photography. I'll have to check it out the macro section!

The fossil imprints are from crinoid stems.

Also, you have a good eye for interesting rocks to pickup.

Just a piece of quartz I picked up somewhere along the trail. I'm sure I picked it up because of the shape. Once I got to looking at it, I liked the 'layers' for a lack of a better term, in it.
