Thank you. I'm really flattered that you took my recommendation with the camera set up. Do you like it? I hope it does work out for you. I like that it's quick to set up and small.
I haven't received it yet Tela. It should be here Friday, I can't wait to try it out. I was going through all my rock tumbles and every one is out of focus; I can't keep from moving the camera it seems.
I had the same problem, plus I'm used to using a tripod. My camera has voice command, but even with that, I would pick up some shake. The picture above that has the pendant on the side was hand held. You can see it wasn't in focus too well.
I was really impressed with the packaging and how well everything was packed. It even had rubber caps on the ends. Who does THAT anymore? Yes, I am quite happy with it.

I'm a little late to the party on this one. Your wraps are always thoughtfully designed and flawlessly executed.
What amazes me here is the versatility of copper with patina. I would never have thought to use copper with either of those cabs, but it works. Silver would also have been great with either of them, especially the moss agate.
That moss agate material is really something special. One of my favorites among all your cabs!

Copper is an underappreciated metal to work with. It is really nice to actually work and as you noted quite versatile. In person, the copper has a warm glow with the patina.I missed working with it. I still have a ton of silver, but I wanted to do some more copper wraps.
The little sparkles all over that moss are very noticeable in person. Very cool!

Is the copper finish stable and durable after going through the liver of sulfur? In other words, does it continue to develop a natural patina over time, and if so, does it turn bluish-green? Or, does the patina wear off over time?

Is the copper finish stable and durable after going through the liver of sulfur? In other words, does it continue to develop a natural patina over time, and if so, does it turn bluish-green? Or, does the patina wear off over time? Those are good questions. When I do a patina, I use 0000 steel wool to take it down, followed by a brass brush to get in all the crevices and clean the clinging bits of steel wool. This produces a fine brushed effect. Then I use a polishing cloth which brings it all down together to a polished glow. Very pretty and work intensive. I have pieces 20 years old with no green patina. So, yeah, the patina definitely slows down the verdigris. It does get a little dull or red with time, but a little polish with a good cloth helps prevent tarnish and verdigris. I also store my pieces in ziplocks. Yes, it is stable. I would have to burn the patina off.
I made a piece with a patina once, but instead of taking down the LOS, I tumbled it when it was still black. It came out beautifully. My daughter wore the piece constanly for years and it never wore off-- which really surprised me. I took the patina off the front and left it everywhere else. Image to follow.

Thanks Tommy. It's an older piece. I'm sure it was posted before. I did a tute on it.
I gave it to my daughter and she gave it to some rock star she met who liked it, but I can't remember his name. You might recognize it.
Just called my daughter. It was Issac Brock of Modest Mouse.

rockjunquieCare to share the camera set up you have. I have a full light box and with stones can't seem to get the head on shot like I want. I've resorted to only taking photos outside. Thanks, Patty

liveoak I'm partial to Nikon. I think these 2 were taken by my most ancient camera. I had to give it up because I think it had 8 megapixels. I used to use a light tent, but it took up so much room that I got rid of it. I had a tripod and 2 lights- one on each side. I used manual and adjusted per piece.
ashley Thank you, but I have psoriasis on my hands, so videos are out of the question. I did try videos, but it's just not for me.

No instant answer , order it up, fix everything - how sad. Obviously just a good camera - we have an aging Fuji.
Sadly your photo bucket link doesn't work anymore .

rockjunquie I do remember that story about her giving away her favorite pendant. Didn't make the connection that it was THIS pendant ... what a shame The photobucket link works on my phone but not on my PC. It keeps going to a sales splash screen.
