Bought some rocks that came with "Dalmatian stone".... which this is obviously not. Any idea what this actually is? Kinda looks like diorite to me. Searched google for imitation dalmatian stone but couldn't really find anything. Won't be tumbling it with the next tumble I have planned no matter what but I'd still like to know what it is in case I want to throw it in a tumble later down the line. Looks like a white matrix with small spots of possibly mica and quartz mixed in. Thanks.

It looks like a type of granite and if it's what I find on the beach it's a tough tumble. The black will want to undercut.
Only one way to find out!

There is a Dalmation Stone folks call a jasper, though it is softer. Think it's out of Mexico. As a pervious poster said, your examples look to be granite with biotite and muscovite mica. Mica is soft and will not tumble.

rockfrog I knew I had one lying around here somewhere. If I had to guess this one is more stable then the one you have. I think it will tumble, it's just not the best material to throw in there. The pink, or white in your case, is very prone to cracking and chunking off.

Definitely granite. I've tumbled a bit of it because you can walk about ten feet in Washington without seeing any. They turn out okay sometimes but I'm not sure they are worth the time.

Yes, you can take it for granite. Because it is.
