This is a cabochon that came with the roaming wire wrap. Somehow it got separated from the others and I found it on my desk after everything was photographed. I was able to put it in the box and get it sent out. It's labeled a South Dakota prairie agate. Sorry to not include it with the others. I consider it a small miracle that I was able to complete everything as well as I did. My father passed on Oct 25. He was 91 years old. I've had my brothers here from out of town to finish clearing out the house and getting it on the market. We get along pretty well but still a lot of stress to strain things. On top of that I rent the building where I run my AC and sheetmetal business from my dad. The value of the building is equal to about 1/2 the estate. There are 3 brothers. I'm thinking I'll be able to manage purchasing the building, but won't even know what it's really worth for another week or two. Not easy to plan when you don't have an amount and whatever the amount is it's going to be many times larger than anything I've purchased. Like 10X what my house cost. If I can't swing the building, I'll be looking at finding another place. That might involve selling my home for funds.... All the numbers keep spinning in my head. Plus the fact that I've been accumulating crap in that building for 30 years and it's gotten ugly! Plus a few tons of sheetmetal equipment. Anyway, didn't mean to bore you guys with all this stuff but that's also why I haven't been here much lately. I also realize I've been having a tendancy to rattle on about nothing a lot when I start talking. I typed a message to Tela last night when I returned the package and fortunately I read it before it went out. I deleted a half a dozen sentences of gibberish and just left the two sentences needed.

rockbrainPlease don’t feel like you are boring or bothering any of us. I imagine everyone else feels the same way, and any of us would be glad to be an ear. Im really sorry for your loss and the stress that it has brought. Yes, this is a rock forum and that’s the predominant connect we all have and the discussion that it brings but in a sense we are all a misunderstood rock loving “family” and care about each other and what’s going on in each others lives, to the extent that we can. Please know that we are here for you if there’s anything you need or just need to talk. Praying for you and your family.

rockbrain. I can relate and feel your pain. Similar situation going on in my world. Life has become all about this other persons affairs. Everything with our own life is on hold and becoming more and more behind. Every day there’s new things added to the never ending ‘to do’ list. I’m a hard worker and very used to long hours but this has been possibly the most difficult. I liken it to living two peoples lives at once and we give priority to the other persons because that’s where the emergency is. It’s exhausting. And we still have a long ways to go. Ugh, a house sale, in this market, now? Anyway, I ended up finding this forum while on a whim deciding to get back into this hobby that I’ve been away from for over a decade. We were really going kind of insane with the stress and realized we needed an outlet. Well most of my “free time” is late at night and we are heading into winter so my yard and gardening isn’t realistic. I like to sew and tinker with metalsmithing as well but those are typically longer projects requiring larger chunks of time, and also more brain power than I typically have at the end of the day. I’ve wanted a cabbing machine since forever and with everything getting more expensive I figured now may be a good time and it could be a good outlook to get away and grind a quick cab now and then. We also recently got the thought in our heads that if we want to do something, now’s the time. This person we are caring for has declined rapidly. It’s amazing how fast time goes, so if there’s something you want to do, do it now. My husband chose music. I chose rocks. They go well together.🤓 Now how’s that for a ramble? Anyway I hope you can find time for an outlet interjected every now and then among your hectic days.

rockbrain I'm so sorry for your loss. I have been through that scenario too, and it is very time consuming, emotional and stressful. If I could give you a little advice about the building you rent it would be this: Find a good commercial realtor in your area who you can get some information from, including how you can structure a purchase of the building and who can refer you to some commercial lenders they have a good relationship with and trust for some guidance and information. Positive thoughts coming your way.

Dealing with a loss and all that comes from it is never easy. I hope you and your brothers are able to get through everything without too many issues. A couple years ago, we lost my husband's mother, step father and very dear uncle one after the other. My husband was the one to take care of everything. It was very difficult, but things did eventually settle down. I hope you can keep the building.

Whoo hoo! Just got the box. Man, there's a lot of cabs in there!!! And the wrap is awesome! I'll try to get pictures up by tomorrow. My grandson is getting married Wed, so it's crunch time.

This is the end, folks. But, first let's have a look at rockbrain 's lovely wrap. It's beautiful and very well executed. Love the copper with the stone. As is usually the case, there are more cabs at the end than what we started with. These will be used to start the next round. We've got some nice cabs for next time- lots of interesting shapes, too. Only one original one is left, which I thought was odd since I loved that one. It's the big green/blue moss.
This concludes this round of Roaming Wire. Everyone did a great job!! Beth, fernwood, when you finish your wrap, you can send it to aGates. Any interest in a new one? Does anyone want to volunteer to run the next one?

Thanks rockjunquie Tela. Thanks @drocknutdiane. I came real close to wrapping the moss cab. There were also 4-5 more cabs I planned on keeping but didn't have any ready that I wanted to give up and I just didn't have time to do any grinding.

I know why there's so many cabs. I showed on page 10 what I was taking and what I was replacing them with. I never took out the ones I was going to keep. I packed them back up plus replaced them. I wasn't functioning very well when I was working on it!

Rockbrain, your wrap is lovely! I particularly like the way you handled the patina on the bail and the dark and light of it. I was also sorry to read of all the problems you are experiencing which have to be a heavy weight on your mind. I truly hope everything works out for you and that your memories of your father soon bring more smiles than sorrow.
