Looks like pretty dandy solution. I think I'm ready to try my Lot-O again, we used SiC and the wrong polish, it seems, and were never happy with it. Maybe use the jugs for first 2 stages and use something to stir the stuff on the bottom to the top when checking it periodically? On the other, unexplored topic, the whey with probiotics sounds intriguing, might look into it.

On the other, unexplored topic, the whey with probiotics sounds intriguing, might look into it. We started using this brand about four years ago when we got on a Keto diet and have stuck with it as a daily breakfast shake every day. Were not doing it quite as low carbs as we started out - I throw it in the Ninja mixer cup with a sliced apple, water, greek yogurt and some kind of frozen fruit or whatever we have on hand. Nothing with any processed sugar. Back to the jug topic, we started buying it by the 5 lb bulk bag a couple of years ago so sadly my supply of plastic jugs has dwindled but I was still able to find I have five of the white ones which are the perfect size. I've also sent a few of them out with rocks in them - I think MsAli and NDK got one with some boulder opal in it lol

Tommy a not so good cholesterol report has me cleaning up my dirty keto, and if blood pressure is any indicator it appears to be helping. Inflation has me also needing to switch out the costco whey bars and pre made shakes for something more DIY, especially when going from pork and beef fats to fish and MCT oils at the same time. Might even quit guessing the correct numbers for the macros. We get jugs of gelatin powder that may be the same size, if so we have a few. They are nice for rough that we can't afford more than ounces or lbs of. Hope it works out for your lot-o.

If the jug will fit over the fat part of a baseball bat, hold the bottom of the jug in boiling water to soften it then shape it over the bat. Easy way to get your round bottom.

I love seeing new alternatives to existing equipment. Great experiment Tommy. One thing I will say is you did use a jug for the BO we bought from you, but it cracked in transit. Although I'm guessing it was the sub-zero temps here that caused that. Good luck with this!

Now there is a great idea! I will try that tonight after work. I don't have a baseball bat but I'll find something to improvise with.

Just following up with some photos from the first load to finish in the alternative barrels. I think they turned out very nice - exceeded my expectations to be honest. This was kind of a mixed load of some picture jasper and a few flats. The jasper ran in a rotary for a few months on whatever grit I left off with - I'm pretty sure it was 120/220. Everything was very smooth already so I sent them through vibe steps 500, 1000, and AO polish.

That worked better than well! Thanks Robin, I'm not ready to pronounce it a complete success, there does seem to be some wear and tear on the 'barrel' and this batch was already ready for 500 AO vibe level. I've got a new batch of mystery rocks in the rotary spinning in 60/90 since 3/8, and that I think, will be the real test. It's a batch of material that may or may not make it as the official material for the inaugural IRTC so we shall see lol. In other words, the protein barrel had better eat it's Wheaties
