Beautiful cabs! Yes, the druzy pockets are a nice add but were they stable? Sometimes the small crystals getting out can spoil the polish around the pocket.
I like the variety of the shapes you chose for the cabs.

Beautiful. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was Biker Randy who was making plume doublets with a black backing. Those plumes would be striking were you to glue on a black back for contrast.

Realrockhound, that is some of the most amazing material I've ever seen. Jason, you did a great job capturing the beauty of the material. Those are some amazing cabs.

Try a doublet behind the cab it's awesome because the translucent aGates makes the back drop pop the plume. Johnny aGates

What's a doublet? I've seen it mentioned but IDK frame of reference to give in a search. Ty!

Beautiful cabs! Yes, the druzy pockets are a nice add but were they stable? Sometimes the small crystals getting out can spoil the polish around the pocket. I like the variety of the shapes you chose for the cabs. Adrian Thanks Adrian. The druzy pockets were stable and there was no ill-effect from them on the surface polish. That is incredibly pretty!! Even though plain, it stands out as lovely and elegant. Thanks!! Thanks Pat. I'm not sure what you mean by "Even though plain"... Thanks for sharing. They are beautiful. Thank you Beth. Very nice, I love it when they are transparent! Thank you very much. I agree with you...I wanted these left "transparent" and I really like the effect. Beautiful. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was Biker Randy who was making plume doublets with a black backing. Those plumes would be striking were you to glue on a black back for contrast. Thanks Mel. I'm familiar with Randy's tutorial. I believe he used moss in his tutorial. Personally, I think the plumes in these particular cabs are striking as is...but I do have plans for doing doublets with some of the thinner slabs realrockhound sent me. I like these particular pieces with no backing because if/when they're wrapped, they should enable the color of the shirt being worn to come through, thus "changing" the color of the backdrop...and matching a person's "ensemble". I know right!?! LOL - Thanks my friend. Those look good. I like the last one best. Thanks Tela. I'm in agreement with you on the last one...to me, it's off the charts stunning material in that one. Beautiful material, well done Jason! Thank you Nate. I truly do like this material...and it's been awhile since anyone on here has worked it - or at least posted pics of it. Gorgeous! That last one is fabulous. Thanks Robin. Yeah...after the initial grind on that last one, I could see how special that one could turn out. Realrockhound, that is some of the most amazing material I've ever seen. Jason, you did a great job capturing the beauty of the material. Those are some amazing cabs. Thanks Perk. I have to agree with you on the "amazing material" comment. Try a doublet behind the cab it's awesome because the translucent aGates makes the back drop pop the plume. Johnny aGates As I stated to Mel, I didn't want doublets on this batch...but I do plan on doing some doublets with some of the thinner slabs I have yet to work. I will definitely be doing a black background on some, and potentially some other colors, but I haven't decided yet.

What's a doublet? I've seen it mentioned but IDK frame of reference to give in a search. Ty! A doublet is either a backing epoxied to the back of the cab (it's usually colored material) or it's a clear cap (e.g. optical/clear quartz) epoxied on the front of the cab. A lot of times it's done due to instability of a material, or it can be used with "thin" slabs", or to create a backdrop.

I am more than ecstatic with how these cabs came out. Great variety of style of plumage. As we’ve discussed, that last cab is absolutely $$$! Keep up the great work and I’ll get you out on the ranch to dig in the near future.

Thanks Dillon!! I still have some slabs of Nydegger. I was doing some doublets with some of them, but I think the plume might be too thick to make effective doublets in the material I have left...so I'll have to "settle" for regular cabs! LOL
