Hi. Newish to the forum, hello from the Ozarks.
Armchair rockhound, tumbler, aspirational cabber.
Didn't come here planning to bug anyone, I was just soaking in some of the forum's collective knowledge and planned to chime in if I had any of my own to share, but I wound up with a question.
Hurt my wrist with an overfull slurry bucket. Unfortunately I haven't been able to clean out my tumblers since and may not be able to for a while.
I have a few kinds of jasper in the barrels that lose everything interesting if you grind them too much.
Since I can't empty the barrels I'm curious if shutting the tumblers off for an extended time is going to ruin anything.
If anyone has any experience with turning off full tumblers and letting them sit before emptying them, let me know how that worked out for you please.

Good morning and welcome to RTH from Virginia. Sorry- not a tumbler, but someone will get to your question. Sorry about your wrist.

Shutting off the tumbler may just make it hard to clean later. It won't hurt anything.

Had to turn mine off for a couple weeks. Left them on their sides until i fired them up again. Ran them for a day to get everything mixed back up with no problems.

Welcome to the madness. It won’t hurt anything but, as already stated, could make things harder to clean.

Hi GrumpyCodgerWelcome to RTH. There are lots of great folks here. It shouldn’t hurt anything to leave them rolling. The grit breaks down pretty fast. In fact you might find them with a semi-polished finish when you do open them. I hope your wrist heals soon. I’m sure we would all love to see photos of your progress.

Welcome from AZ I have restarted old barrels after they sit idle with no significant problems. I definitely suggest running for a few hours, then cleaning out and running a burnishing cycle for a few hours with borax to clean off any residue before moving on.

Welcome from Central California. You're certainly not bugging anyone! Questions are welcome here.
