I tried searching for the answer, but no dice. Or I'm just hungry (waiting for dinner on the grill!).
My 33B is currently on top of a ~1" thick piece of plywood. Do I need to worry about heat transferring to the wood and causing a fire? I've seen suggestions for putting tumblers onto a large cookie sheet/oil pan for potential spillage issues. Perhaps that's my answer. π€
Thanks!

In all my years of tumbling, I've never had a blowout on my lortone or any other tumbler. I run mine on a metal shelf in the garage away from flammable stuff. I would say to make sure there is not paper and/or rags super close to them. Wood shouldn't catch on fire too easy, but cloth might. If you see scorch marks on the wood, put it on something non-flammable. Hope this helps!

Hello nuggets, it's great that you are cautious. You just never know. I like the idea of putting a cookie sheet underneath in case of spills and fire prevention. Thanks for posting the cautionary question. CLErocks posted, boot tray at Target that fits JUST RIGHT! for his rotaries.

perkins17 dshanpnw Yup, I'm not a risk-taker so naturally err on the side of caution. Nothing is near the Lortone that can catch fire. The car is several feet away, so I should be good. Thanks!

Mine run on a big piece if 2β thick Styrofoam. No melting of said foam in over a year. Keep in mind itβs sometimes 112 in the shade here where they are currently running.

quartzilla How crap, batman!! I'm more impressed the styrofoam didn't melt at those temps.!! And here I'm worried about my wood platform and 33B getting too hot in my 93Β° garage in the summer.

I run in my basement, so it is never over 70 but I have mine on some carpet to deaden the sound. No issues in 17 years (all Thumlers)
