The more they over-think the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the toilet.

Not a new one, but this time it's MUCH closer than just on the news:
Several people - including a Catholic nun - have been recently scammed in my area by the infamous 'rental scam'. A neighbor of mine has a rental property and the scammers managed to co-opt her listing on Craigslist. Several people showed up to view the property, (even one couple on Easter Sunday, which didn't please the current tenants). All had sent deposits to hold the property. (Apparently, in the hot market right now, that isn't all that unusual.)
It's interesting to note that two of the people who were scammed were pulled in by a listing price that was actually 60% below market value. Folks seem to be so incredibly anxious (greedy) to snatch up a great deal that they forget the old adage that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
If you're currently looking for a rental, beware!

Man, I've witnessed all kinds of scams recently, especially those that prey upon old folks. I have an old pal that has been falling for scams every other week and it's just exhausting to try to get him to not be such a sucker.
