We weren't able to make it out to Prineville this year. Actually, I think someone told me it was in July, so I wasn't even focused on going in June, but that doesn't matter, we missed it. However, it would be good to hook up with and meet with some of you other Pacific NWeners sometime. Would be interested in doing some smaller rockhounding trips if it works out. I don't have my 4x4 pickup anymore, but now driving a Subaru. It usually does the trick unless stuff gets really bad. We live in Hillsboro and joined the TVGC, but they don't have anybody doing any trips or anything other than video lectures, rock shows, etc. So we've been looking at possibly hooking up with the Mt. Hood Club instead. The downside is that they meet in Gresham, making it a 30+ mile trip to and fro from home. But maybe someday. I'm always interested in Central Oregon and beyond because we may even get to see the sun. As Bill pointed out, it's a traditional Oregon Spring as far as rain goes for the Willamette Valley, so we aren't expecting Summer to start until July 6th. It beats the 113F heat from last Summer, but the webbing has began to grow between my toes again and I'm ready for a change. Ya'll let me know if anyone is interested in hooking up. Thanks, Mark

Thanks, Mark I highly recommend the Mt Hood club. They are the field trip club for sure. Weekend after next it's a saddle mountain trip. I think the field trip calendar is on the public part of the website. Belonging to another NWFMS affiliated club may qualify you to join them without being a member, that used to be the drill anyway.

realrockhoundstonemonIt was fun to hang with you and share a few stories of rocks and life. We made it to Madras today, time to rest again. Symptoms are about 90% gone for me, and Elizabeth is doing well, should be good by Thursday for the show here.

I have seen their calendar and trips. A funny fact is that we've only been on a few rockhounding tours with a group in the PNW, and Saddle Mountain was one of them! But that was probably 20 years ago. I don't mind paying them dues if that's what they want, since most are quite reasonable anyway. I'll shoot them an email to see what's up. Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad to hear both you and your wife are on the recovery side cvd.

Did anyone show up with rough? The Prineville show was a lot of slabs and very little rough.

Seems like a good show, but there's a lot of empty spots and definitely not enough rough. There are a few different dealers from the Prineville show, and they moved it to the big field at the west end of the parking lot. The PowWow club is turning the show over to a dealer run show, the guy who will be running it sounds like he has some good ideas on how to improve it next year.
