A member (holajonathan) flew into town and we were hanging out non-stop since Saturday. That...and it's really difficult to type right now. I had an "accident" and sliced one of my fingers to the bone...so my normal hunt and peck typing is REALLY pecking more than normal. I'm wearing by my backspace out! LOL Well that was really nice of holajonathan to come at just the right time to take your mind off stressing for your show :-) Good deal & a good friend to do that !
I'm afraid to ask how you hurt your finger - sounds painful.
Anyway, hope you have a good show,
Patty

I was cutting the Limestone off the Amethyst Teepee Canyon Agate I found with my 10" saw. I don't have a vice, so I hold the rock with my hand as I'm sawing. The blade grabbed the rock and threw it...slicing my finger to the bone as it got thrown. I've cut a thousand rocks the same way...but this one time, the rock bit back! Today was a great first day of the show. I'm going to do a thread about it once it's over... Geez Louise, Jason! Take care of that finger and have a great show! Thanks Robin! I will take care of it...I still have some plans for it! LOL OUCH!
Look at the bright side... maybe you'll get some sympathy sales. Right!! LOL I tried to "point it out" whenever I could today! LOL

Obviously, jasoninsd you NEED a vice (for your rock saw that is) .
On my saw we purchased a woodworking vice, and then my husband cut it to fit, and used an angle bracket to bolt it to the fence. We glued some rubber sheet inside the jaws for cushioning & better gripping.
Point is- it's nothing fancy, wasn't expensive - but something you have to have.
Next time it might be the bone too !
It's a safety issue !

Look at the bright side... maybe you'll get some sympathy sales. A little late now, but I was thinking that there had to be a way to work in a little display at your show of some bloodstone cabs in progress...

Love that setup Patty! Thanks for posting pics!! (And yes...you're right!! ) Look at the bright side... maybe you'll get some sympathy sales. A little late now, but I was thinking that there had to be a way to work in a little display at your show of some bloodstone cabs in progress...I've held up my finger a couple times when someone asked what the stone in a wrap was and replied "Bloodstone"! LOL - It's been good for a laugh! We're on the same page my friend! LOL
