Going through some old photos and came across this close up. Probably done well over 1,000 of these but have only done 2 ever in gold filled. Really loved the look of gold with Malachite.
I have seen discussions recently about wire all inside vs wire half in and half out. Personally I think all in looks like a more professional job. I do make an exception on very translucent stones because a deep groove and wire can be seen through the stone. In that case round wire half in and and half out as long as it is uniform look good. I do not think square wire ever looks good sticking out of a groove. Just my 2 cents on that subject. There are no rules. I cab the stones I want to cab and finish them how I want to finish them. That is what makes it a hobby. If I change what I am doing solely to please others that becomes a job.
