1. "Measure twice...cut once" I measured the three wrapping wires to short so did not have extra wire for proper bail (and embellishments) 2. It is way to easy to leave tool marks on soft sterling silver wire This was my first wrap: and here is Christine first wrap Much thanks for original slabs to Tela for the rain forest jasper and Tony for the Pinolith

Nice wraps! My favorite is the pinolith. I've got a nice big thick slab of it I'm waiting to cut up. I like the walking liberty too. -Nicholas

You did a great job on the first one with what you had to work with wire-wise. Measuring doesn't help me, I still come up short. I don't know why, but now I just add on a few inches to what I'm sure it should be. You, on the other hand, had it nailed by the time you did your second wrap!

I think every wrapper has cut a wire or two too short. I usually add about 2.5 to 3 inches to each side for the bail, but that's without any flourishes. Despite your difficulties, I think you two did some respectable firsts.

Very nice on your first ones! Cutting the wires too short is something you usually only do once (maybe twice). I will measure the cab and then add 3-4" to that to accomodate the bail. I'm not a big flourish person, so i never add more for swishy stuff.

Great job on the first wraps. I have cut wire too short before too. I usually measure the cab then add 2" for the bail plus 1 or 2 inches for swirls if I am planning on putting them on it. Keep wrapping, practice makes better wraps.

Tried to place our first wire order online last night…so many choices…decided on copper to practice with.

I like copper for some stones but others seem to beg for silver. Happy wrapping!

Keep at it and look back in a year or two and you'll see how far you've come. I still have a photo of my first wrap and it's pretty hideous. The problem is I never progressed very far past it
