Found near me Illinois. Is the big guy Jasper. Outside is dirty from being in the river.

ashley, it seems like one to me. The black/gray rock at the bottom is basalt (I think) and the white stripe is quartz. We have a ton of that stuff up here.

Ashley, jasper has a smoothish feel and shiny. Very distinct. Not all red rocks are jasper, as many folks claim. It's all about the feel, although, if it's brecciated or very rough it can be difficult to tell. Mark
