Howdy all!
The wife and I will be flying up to SE Washington to visit her grandparents early September. We'll then be driving on 84 to Idaho to visit her Grandpa near Fairfield. I guess he lives on a bunch of land and has a creek so we'll be checking that out.
Does anyone have any pointers for anywhere to stretch the legs and do a bit of rockhounding nearish to hwy 84? We'll be free to do some exploring September 12th, 13th and 14th as we make our way to Idaho. We were thinking of trying around the Graveyard Point Plume area or the Snake river but those are just tentative ideas. Looks like Nyssa, Owyhee and Bruneau are near that route too.
If anyone has any suggestions or tips it would be greatly appreciated! It'll be my first time up yonder so any pointers from anyone with experience in that area would be extremely helpful. Anywhere to hike around with a chance to find a some agates or jasper of any kind would be awesome. Thanks!!

A stop at catmandewe Tony's rock mountain near Boise is a great plan, and I have no doubt that while there he can get you headed in the right direction for further adventures.

Yes we definitely plan on stopping by Tony's rock shop if he's around, it looks to be fairly close to where we'll be staying in Idaho. Can't wait to check it out!

goldfinder, I'm a Spokane resident (Eastern Washington) so I would highly recommend staying a night here (if at all possible) and visiting the club one night. It is open on week nights from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Are you up for hounding? I can PM you a few sights if you are.

We'll be down in Othello visiting her Grandma for the first couple nights then heading up to Cheney for Sunday the 11th to see her Grandpa but heading out that evening. That'll be as close as we get to Spokane so not sure if we'd be able to make it to the Spokane club on a week night. I watched a YouTube video and that club does look amazing! Y'all are very lucky to have such an awesome club up there! If I lived close I'd probably be there all the time lol. Yeah we are going to try doing a bit of hounding on the 12th, 13th and 14th as we meander our way to Idaho. Yes any tips on general areas for hounding would be greatly appreciated!

I totally understand if you can't. They have some weird hours but it's worth it if you can make it. In like a 30 minutes drive away soni haven't been making it a lot lately. We are VERY lucky to have such an awesome club. I've been shown levels of kindness close to that of the RTH there. I'll send you a PM with some locations once I get home. I owe Son Of Beach one too. -Nicholas

There is an agate hunting area between Fairfield and Gooding. Graveyard Point is a good stop and is easy to find and the finding is good.
I am open by appointment so just give me a date and time and I can put you on the calendar.
Happy traveling! Tony
