Hi everyone! My name is Gina (or Gigi) and I hail from Massachusetts. I'm so happy to have found this forum and I'm already learning so much! I've only been tumbling a few months, and I'm hooked. I have a lil Chicago tumbler, but im really wanting to try my hand at making my own tumbler system(one day). Ive done a few batches of just rocks, but I've really found I like tumbling glass and all the marble pieces i've found throughout our yard. (I have no idea why there there, its like a constant treasure discovery) My current battle is getting the glass to be shiny again, so i'm currently scouring the forums for any suggestions. If its not one thing its another.
Thank you for having such a welcoming forum, and I cant wait to learn more and chat with everyone

Welcome from NW Florida.
Patty..... who doesn't have that southern draw, y'all I didn't think I had one til I went to Maine a few years ago and was treated like a celebrity because of the way I sounded. My ancestors would be rolling in their graves if they knew I pronounced my "R"s.

Welcome from southern Arizona. As you’ve discovered a trove of information on this forum. I haven’t done glass but have read some is hard to get a polish on. One suggestion would be to use some small rocks or ceramics as filler and not have about 1/3 or less in a batch. You may want to look for posts by jamesp regarding glass tumbling. There are a couple of other members that have quite a bit of glass experience as well. Perhaps someone else will chime in with some their names. Also, here is a little info on glass. rocktumbler.com/tips/tumbled-glass/

Patty..... who doesn't have that southern draw, y'all I didn't think I had one til I went to Maine a few years ago and was treated like a celebrity because of the way I sounded. My ancestors would be rolling in their graves if they knew I pronounced my "R"s. I do not have a true Boston accent, I mostly remember my Rs. My mother who is all Bostonian, ironically adds an R to the end of my name when shes talking quick. Which is all the time.

That's funny - my mother was born in the Bronx suburb of NYC, and there are certain words that I learned as a child from her, that I hesitate to say in mixed company. But would you believe that in her language , the word "toilet" has an R in it. But no worries - on the forum, no one actually hears how you talk, as long as you pay attention to what you type.
My best memory of Boston is Doyle's Pub, best bar I ever been to, and they have good food & Watney's Cream Stout on tap. I heard it was the only bar in Boston that stayed open during prohibition, and when it was over, the mayor of Boston officially re-opened it. Patty
