If I take the barrels off it rotates just fine. I've checked the belt and it seems fine, not broken, not super loose but there's a hair's breath of play in it. I cleaned up any gunk that might've been choking things up - you know how you get build up debride from the friction causing rubber to rub off - regreased things that needed it. But I found the lightest pressure stops it from rotating. As for putting the barrels themselves on, forget it, not even manually getting it to turn works.
I've exhausted what I can do with my limited knowledge of mechanics. Motor seems to be in perfect working order, it just won't move if there's pressure on the bar. Even placing my finger lightly against it didn't do any good.

I've had the exact same problem with one of mine. I'm suspecting the motor is shot in mine, and maybe yours too.

I can't afford to buy a new one. I could barely afford this one. It's funny how it's supposed to be the best of the best, but I've had way more problems with it than my Chicago Electric. Only problems I've had with that is the inner rubber lid wearing down and I found well made but inexpensive replacements for that on Amazon. Heck, the replacements are better quality of rubber than what comes with it.

Hey jamijr, I'm going to go through some troubleshooting steps and if you already tried them, then darn it, I don't know what the heck. 1. Oil those bearings at the ends of the shafts. 2. clean the o-ring or belt with rubbing alcohol to ensure there's no oil on it. 3. make sure the shafts are free of grease and oil 4. check tension on belt, if you have an extra belt try putting it on. Thinking maybe it is the belt or o-ring. 5. I would really like to think there is nothing wrong with the motor. maybe check the motor running without the belt on it and see if you can tell how much torque it has. If everything fails, try to email Lortone: equipment@lortone.com

I have a Loretone that will work for a while, then when the motor heats up it seizes. I tried cleaning it with engine degreaser then brake cleaner Thought it did the trick at first, but when I looked a couple hours later the motor was seized up again.

If you haven't yet, oil the motor shaft where it comes out of the housing with some 3in1 or better yet 3in1 brand 20wt electric motor oil, I get it at Lowes. It's a fairly small container so doesn't break the bank.

But the second any amount of pressure is applied it stops turning. I'll try cleaning it and stuff again today. I don't have any replacement belts for it. If I could figure out how to remove the bars - you're supposed to be able to to replace the plastic pieces on the ends when they crack, which I DO have replacements for those, I'd give it an extra good cleaning for old grease and debris from friction.

Does just the rolling works stop turning or does the motor stop, I'm not clear on that.

if the Motor stops when you grab the roller, then the motor is bad. Here is a Replacement . . .

Those motors have oiler holes on each end of the shaft on the outside edge of the body. Little Half-moon cutouts with small tubes going straight to the bearings. I would definitely put a few drops of oil in those 2 holes before getting a new motor.
and anyone that owns one of these tumblers (QT6, QT66, QT12) put a drop of thin oil in there every year.

I gave those areas a good cleaning with an old toothbrush and a rag, getting a LOT of old grease and build up from rubber from the barrels rubbing off due to friction. Put a bit of fresh oil on them and it's working again! So it just needed a serious cleaning. I knew it wasn't the motor because the motor ran just fine. It just would stop rotating because of the lightest pressure. Now I can put pressure on it and it keeps going. I'll restart tumbling the rocks I was tumbling on Monday. I like to do a Monday to Monday schedule. I should give the CE the same cleaning even though it's running fine.

Does just the rolling works stop turning or does the motor stop, I'm not clear on that. The rolling was stopping with the smallest amount of pressure. But now that I've cleaned it up it's working just fine. Sorry I didn't answer before, I'm not getting notifications every time someone replies to this, just every little bit.
