The first one was Tahoma slabbed with the seam. To narrow to cut the normal way. When cutting with the seam there needs to be a nice wide band of material. This one had thin nice layers and a thick uninteresting layer in the middle. It started out like this: I took it down some more hoping the good stuff on the edges would show up. It finished like this: The next cab was Hornitos. I only had to frame a pattern. I spent four times more time on the first cab trying to make something from nothing. Conclusion I am stubborn and optimistic.

On my 8 inch stardiamond console I remove the arbor and then the set screw that hold the polishing pad and then slide all the wheels off the arbor, replace the old wheel with the new wheels. To make sure everything lines up I lay the pieces on the ground in the sequence they were removed, put the new wheel where the old was and put everything back on the shaft. put the set screw back in the polishing pad and the entire arbor assembly back where it was.

One of the greatest art competition was the Paris Salon. It was juried and not a vote by the visitors to the exhibition. Did the public vote in the earlier competitions you mentioned? It seems I am quite good at pissing people off. I didn't think you pissed anyone off. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I gave my personal preference and later clarified that it was only my personal preference. It should have ended there. I didn't need for someone to say that I was wrong. I shouldn't have to debate about what I believe.

I saw this piece of Guadalupe as an ebay auction and had to have it. 6 oz. 3" x 2 1/4" x 1 1/4". I saw the clear areas and it looked solid. Guadalupe rough is nasty with vugs and fractures. Bidding was active and the high bid doubled in the last few seconds. My aim with my trim saw is not good. I did a facing cut (left) with my 10 inch slab saw and cut the largest slab. I changed orientation and did another facing cut and it disappeared. I completed the last two slabs with the trim saw. The black marks are sharpie and not marking fractures.

Making cabochons is an art form and it is not right to vote on art. There's been art competitions since the 1400's and maybe earlier. Virtually all the renaissance artist and impressionist competed in competition. One of the greatest art competition was the Paris Salon. It was juried and not a vote by the visitors to the exhibition. Did the public vote in the earlier competitions you mentioned? It seems I am quite good at pissing people off.

In today's world of social media everything gets voted on. I get stats on Etsy. Views are related to sales. Likes are clicks. People don't vote on who gets gallery space. People can do whatever they like as long as it doesn't harm.

Do you have a picture? I can't find any pictures. I'm red green color deficient and have cut cabs of darker MM but they still seem pink.

I've cut a lot of MM and it certainly could be. MM has really tight orbs.

My post is only about power outages. My electrical utility has paid out billions of dollars as a result of their equipment starting huge wildfires in Northern California. Their approach for dealing with a possible fire hazard where I live was to trim trees next to power lines. Recently, they have changed their approach to make their equipment more sensitive and shut down the power in the area that could only be slightly at risk. They save money on tree trimming and the customer has more outages. I've had eight in less than a month. So when I feel like doing a little rock grinding in the morning, I have been unable. This situation is not going to go away. In December, I had solar installed, but didn't add a battery backup because they are expensive and limited. I can't run my a/c for very long. With all these outages, I decided to get a battery that will support all my 110v so when the power is out, the lights will be on and I can make a pot of coffee and grind rocks.

I don't wrap, I make cabs and Etsy was a good fit. I use expensive material with good patterns and don't compete with cheap junk. I have no interest in craft shows because there is the same issue as Etsy and I don't want to spend time I could be using making stuff than sitting around waiting for customers.
jasoninsd has been actively selling his wire wraps. rockjunquie has her own website.
