Sometimes that organic, low polish satin finish looks good on some rocks. Jo

Very possible. I think the key to a better face will be to set the eyes deeper at the beginning so I can get the shape I want and then be able to achieve the facial expressions I'm looking for.

Hahaha... well, in his former life he used to be a monk. I want to get better at the faces, and make them less scary and more expressive.

This is a project that is currently still in progress. It is a tree with a gnome door using wire and polymer clay. Covering the wire armature. All covered and adding the detail. All baked. Used a flash to try to show more detail. Now for the leaves. I used Green Tree Agate chips. At this point, the door is on and I added some mushrooms and a log. I ran out of chips so this project is on hold for a bit. My son is providing the base. There are some tumbled stones amongst the roots. I'll post pics as soon as it is complete. Thanks for looking. This is a project I've been meaning to do for a long time. My shop is called Gnomes and Nuggets, mainly because at the time, before we sold the house and hit the road, I was making gnome houses from natural materials from the woods where we lived. Bill came up with the name. Since I've been working mostly with the nuggets now, people always ask, "where are the gnomes" and then the explanation went into something like, well, we are the traveling gnomes hauling around all these nuggets, bla, bla, bla, LOL. Anywho, I've been wanting to pull the gnomes and nuggets thing together for a while now, so here it is... the birth of a gnome. Wire armature with sculpey body, fired so the outer clay has something to grab onto. I know, it looks scary. Gave him some pants and boots so he won't be nekked anymore. Now for his coat/tunic/whatever. I actually had to build the eyes, I know you can buy them, but you know me, I gotta do it the hard way. He was blind but now he can see... Eyebrows and rosy cheeks. Now for some manscaping. After some hair, it looked like he needed an ark and a bunch of pairs of animals. At this point he was human enough to sit next to Billy and give him poker advice. And now all he needs is his hat. This is the taller version of the hat. I ended up shortening it for fear it might snap off. Oops, can't forget his belt. Here he is all done. For the nugget part, he's holding a faceted glass stone that Billy made last year. Thanks for looking. Jo

This is just awesome. I've done some stones similarly and I really love wrapping them. An exciting work of art you have created there! Thank you! Jo

What a handsome son, Kurt. Nice to see you didn't "lose it" when the piece decided to break, but just moved on to the next piece. This piece is special for many reasons. Jo

From your pics, I think pet wood makes a really beautiful pond. That was a real nice thing to do for the little croaking critters, Snuffy. Jo

What awesome pics of cool and adorable kids! Put a big smile on my face seeing that. That plastic container was put in by me. Knew it was possible that it would be pulverized, hoped someone would grab it before that happened, LOL. Jo
