Thanks for the information. Don't know if I'll be back to that guy since he deals mostly in large purchases but might try t buy some if I do go back. As for "spoils", I didn't get very much but will try to post a few pics sometime. It doesn't take many rock pics to get most of us excited...I think we're kinda like a 3-year-old with a cardboard box! LOL LOL

Wow, talk about beautiful. Almost makes me sorry I didn't buy any Basanite yesterday when I ran out of money buying some rocks from a guy in a warehouse in Phoenix. He had buckets of it and I'd never used it so didn't buy any. I don't even know the prices on that material but I've heard it's rare, not sure if that's the truth though. I can try to get a price from the guy if anyone is interested just send me a pm. Thanks Diane! I really don't think Basanite is all that rare...but I could be wrong. I did find some online, I don't remember where...and if I remember correctly, I didn't think it was pricey. I'll be expecting to see pics of your "spoils" from the warehouse guy though! LOL Thanks for the information. Don't know if I'll be back to that guy since he deals mostly in large purchases but might try t buy some if I do go back. Very interesting. I'm not generally a fossil person but my father was into paleontology so I have some. Thank you parfive for posting the article on Eastern dinosaurs. That was an interesting read and explains a lot to me.

Welcome to the forum from south central Arizona. Glad to have you here. I did a quick look at your website, very nice. I noticed a post on the Snowbird Mine in Montana. Thanks for taking me back in the way back machine. I went there sometime before 2013 can't remember the exact year but I do remember the great views and the long walk to and from the parking area. At the time I was a fairly new rockhound and didn't know a lot about rocks plus I wasn't in the best of shape. I may even still have a chunk of smoky quartz I collected from there. Ahh, the memories. Thank you! The website is always a constant work in progress. Sounds like you need to make a return trip!
You're welcome. It seems like everything is a constant work in progress, including myself...lol. I doubt I could even make the hike in to there now. I'm in worse shape than when I lived there because I've let myself get more sedentary since I don't work as a tree trimmer anymore. Truth be told I had a hard time making it back from the mine because of painful hip problems that have yet to be resolved. I was originally told the hike in from the parking area was only 1/4 mile when in reality the forest service had closed the road so the parking area was actually 4 miles from the site. I just kept hiking thinking it was a very long 1/4 mile. On the way out I saw the sign that said the mine was 4 miles away. It took me several days to recuperate. Not a trip I'm proud of for sure.

Excellent wrap, you definitely made a beautiful piece of jewelry. I do disagree with you when you said "it's not that spectacular" --oh yes it is spectacular! The added copper beads is brilliant.

Laguna is the one. Thanks! Martin is super nice guy. The jasper was dug by his father 45 years ago and was lost in their yard until recently. You're welcome. I agree Martin is a super nice guy (and he gives good hugs, just fyi).

This is a question for anyone that remembers where some things were at the Pow Wow. That Inferno jasper I got was from the seller from Mexico in the far SE corner spot. He is tall, dark hair, I can almost remember his name. His main material is an expensive agate. This jasper was found adjacent and in contact with the agate in Chihuahua state. A cartel controls the land where the digging was done and he can no longer risk digging there. One piece of my jasper has a little bit of agate bands in it and he remarked that I was lucky that he let this piece go for the jasper price. Does anyone know the name of the agate he sells? His name is Martin Olvera and his company name is Shadow Hills Rockshop. He sells a lot of Laguna Agate as well as Crazy Lace Agate.

I'll bet she would have loved it even with it not being perfect in your eyes. Now go do a wrap for her and remember it is handmade not perfect. Thanks, Diane. No, it would never be perfect- but I can do better. Maybe... You can and you will.
