This year was our first year setting up as vendors out at the Pow Wow. I was a little worried at first as we usually only do shows in California and Arizona is a long way to haul rock for us. We had a great time and loved getting to see a lot of our old friends from here and meet new ones for the first time. We will be returning next year and hope to see you all again and would love the privilege of meeting more of you. Christopher

Ijust learned the blue quartzite Azul Macaubas is colored by dumortierite! It's color fast!! Hmmm... christopherl1234 based on your knowledge of the blue moganite, could the color be dumortierite? Alumnimum?? I think the color in the rock from Utah comes from lithium and copper

The coloration of this material is very similar to the B.C. material but the inclusions are different. This material is coming out of Utah near Gold Hill. This is a new deposit. I have had a spectral analysis done by Donald Kasper that show in the initial findings that this is blue moganite. The blue coloration is very rare and preliminary testing show that it is around a 6+ in hardness. I will be leaving Quartzsite in a day or two and will share some photos of cab then or you can browse around my facebook albums to see a few that have since found new homes. We have a few tubs of slabs and several hundred pounds of rough available at the Pow Wow space #275. I had a huge boulder of this material setting out in the hot Bakersfield sun all summer long and I have seen no sign of fading.
