I will most likely be there through the month of January again this coming season. I might even set up at the Pow Wow this year. Not sure yet. I will have to figure out what to do with my boys first. We'll take the youngest one! How much are you selling him for?!?!?! Funny!!....I think I am going to start home-schooling them so I can take them everywhere! How much were you askin' for Goober? lol

Those are great Chris! I have to learn how to do this, stunning stones Best way to learn is to cut yourself some. They really are not that hard especially if you start with windows

You've done it again, incredible. I have a question that I've been wondering about for some time Christopher: Are the fire agates that you do one dimensional like a tumbled stone, or are the "fire" parts rounded like "hills & valleys"? Hope you get what I mean. Thanks in advance . . . To begin with none of my fire agates are tumbled. Some of the tops are symmetrical and even, most are not.

The "Alaskan agate" looks a lot like some of the Rainbow Ledge material (from up near Ridgecrest) I picked up at an estate sale last year. I also think that this is Rainbow Ledge material. Material like this used to be plentiful. Nice red and a more layered look with clear/blue agate was common. Harder to find it like this any more. Here is a photo to compare OLD STOCK RAINBOW LEDGE

I did not mine this myself a friend of mine did. This is the first time I have seen purple in this type of material too. There is a large amount of waste in this material but the cabs that come out of it are well worth the effort and sell extremely well.

That doesn't look very different from the "variscite" sent by vegasjames. I have played with his material a little and his seems to be a "gem" version. Like "gem silica" is silicated chrysocolla I think his material is silicated variscite. How hard is your example? I have tri color marble that has the same look.. I vote for the Tri-Colored marble found out near Stoddard Wells

I have been going for about 5 or 6 years running. I am not a specimen guy so I have never went on the field trips but it looks like they have fun getting muddy and wet. For me it is more a social thing. I get to touch bases with some of my vendor and mining friends and look around for good deals and pick-up any supplies I may need. We have family in Ridgecrest so it also gives me an excuse to spend the weekend with the family.
Shotgunner, the Indian Wells club sponsors a show in November. They are the owners of the Rainbow Ledge/Ridge claim. They open it up the Sunday, (10/03), for a fee dig.
