Why yes they most certainly do. Each and everyone are mechanical geniuses.
I would like to argue this point. Some have sent me BS explanations beyond comprehension.
I worked with metal for 20 years, you didn't, let's shut the trap for a minute and assume you don't know everything. I'll also admit that I don't know everything but that's where the fault lays.
That being said don't forget to loosen the vise crossfeed stabilization bolt and come up with the idea the crossfeed is flying apart and the vise bottom plate is 'flexing' because you don't understand how things work.
Now let's all go poor a healthy dose of kerosene in our saws and have at it!

My friend and I, who are both long time AC/DC fans, were wondering if we could compile the top ten AC/DC song of all time. Coming to disagreements we decided to allow 2 top 5 lists, one with Bon Scott, the other with Brian Johnson. After a few more beers we decided that was BS and all was up for grabs. Even though i'm a huge Brian Johnson fan my first 3 picks for top ten are all Bon Scott and include: 1. Sin City, 2: Overdose, and #3 and keep listening: Ride On. I still am not 100% sure if this is a possible task. On other fronts I would like to introduce the top ten after you've been drinking foods and since i've had close to 20 beers this evening, thus, i'd like to enter my own creation which I have named "The Gary Supreme". There are personal reasons for which I named it after 'Gary' which can be discussed later if this thread gets that far. The basic recipe includes a piece of fried bologna followed by a piece of American cheese followed by a fried egg(yolk is cooked solid) on top of white bread smothered in miracle whip. The only variations without further thought that I will allow is mayo and the addition of 'garden fresh' tomato. If you must have wheat bread.........you shouldn't be eating eggs and bologna in the first place. Not sure about it? Drink a few and see what the guests say:

I'm a very literal person. And I speak using 'words' not by telepathy like my wife. Or should I say 'attempted' telepathy because my receptors don't work a good part of the time. Listen?? Listen to what!

I recommend straping 14 sticks of TNT and 5 gallons of gas to it with a remote detonator. Might want to cover the roof under it with a piece of cardboard. LOL.
What a find, I can think of 2 mailboxes i'd love to stick it in.

Cool nice looking stuff and good camera work. Now all you have to do is cut them lol. Drinking a cup of coffee before heading to the shop maybe slab something and post it tomorrow. Of course after a 2hr nap this afternoon it probably will be after noon lol I seem to be on that schedule lately I like the late nights when it's warm out. Now if they would just hurry up with the mosquito cloaking device i'll have it made.

LOL I was just joking Jean. I'm not offended too easily nor ever hold a grudge for very long in most cases. I was into bugs big time when I was a kid and took bug classes at the KU campus during the summer. I don't remember a damn thing about it though. Rocks I got into very early as well. I actually had a huge collection but became disinterested about the time I started driving and gave them all away except for a couple pieces I still have. Dumbass.

I'm not real sure how a thread on keokuk geodes has followed this path of degression but my dad said that when they were kids they would stick various items such as straw up a horse flys rear end and watch it fly like a drunken pilot. I didn't start this subject but since it came up....LOL.

That's the problem here can't trust anyone. There's a lot of assholes that need to get purged from the system but good luck with that.
I like how they always catch all these plans ahead of time. I think it's because most of the time it's setups to justify their jobs. If you decided to do something and didn't tell anyone your chances of getting caught are very low. As far as the NSA trying to make themselves look good.......that would be zero surprise.

That's a cool clamp i'll make one too thanks. These geodes had enough flat on them I had a pretty good grip on them despite what it may look like. I couldn't budge them so I let it rip.

This is the end result of forcing children to learn sufficiency. She has no choice but to do what she is doing. Too me she is far freer than American children.
How many US parents would send their 6 year old out to cut leeks, where a stranger might interview her?
"How many American children would happily answer the questions without fear?
How many US parents would allow their child free reign with a knife?
That video makes me very happy. Afghan children seem to have a better childhood.............."
I totally agree. I don't have kids, never have so I can't say i'd be a better parent than some but it's sure disgusting watching some peoples kids like my nieces that she brings over those 2 slobbering idiots are nearly ready for middle school and think 2+2=jello.

I'm not sure, from what i'm reading the amounts released are far greater than Chernobyl but it's going into the ocean. Time will tell I guess and yes it's quit the name.

"Great geodes. I like how you have the partially full bottle of beer on there. Looks like you are using it to balance the saw. " LOL. It didn't stay partially full for long. I was sick most all last week, the entire weekend and sill only about 85%(of course that's optimal for me I think). So needless to say I hadn't a drink in nearly 2 weeks. Since we will hit the trails today I might drag my friend to the high hills where the glacial till is and look around a bit. Nothing of huge lapidary importance but I usually can find something of interests but i'm not real picky. Couple weeks ago I found a host rock that has odd shaped jasper in the middle that goes all the way thru.

I decided to ignite a 5 gallon bucket of scrap acetone/paint etc with an angle grinder right next to me. It was covered up with crap and I didn't know it was there. Long story short I ended up in the burn ward for almost 2 months and a 1.3 million dollar hospital bill. It's a good way to lose weight......I went in the hospital weighing 255lbs and came out 180. I was given a 50/50 chance. It pretty much sucked ass.
"Took about 1/4" and 3/8" off the tips and they still remind me vigorously if my hand gets cold."
Ouch! I can relate. When i'm outside in the winter both hands will hurt so bad initially that I almost cry. Then they go dead and I can get back to what I was doing. Sometimes I decide whatever it is I was going to do isn't worth getting thru the several minute 'adjustment' phase. I have to be careful after they go dead because I could end up with frostbite and not know it. Yay.
I'm still pretty adept at opening a beer bottle though. LOL. I can still do pretty much every thing I did before but I now have fumble fingers so I operate tools differently etc and have dificulty with small parts needless to say the facetor went by by and I would've ended up in the mental ward trying to operate it. It's also a 'very' annoying handicap in the sense I am a fairly strong person and despite bench pressing 315lbs for repetitions people only focus on the 'bad' and since I have a hard time grasping shopping bags at the grocery store i'm often asked if I want help and because my right forearm looks like a frankenstein appendage I still have little old ladies opening doors for me.
I realize people are just trying to help but there are some days it just really gets on my nerves.
At any rate today is looking to be a promising day as my best friend since grade school is coming over and it will be a day and all night adventure of beer, guns and 4 wheelers. Yep, I didn't learn a damn thing lmao.

Grizman.....if the holes in the vise were worn out and sloppy it's possible it would bind. Lube couldn't hurt. Some models have replaceable nylon bushings I think these are just metal on metal and it's probably ok. Your one shaft idea makes sense but that's why the gravity feed cord is attached to the side of the vise that has the shaft and that keeps it from binding it wouldn't work if it were on the opposite side.
Covington puts a washer somehow underneath the table connected to the vise that keeps the vise from riding up the blade of course the saw isn't perfect in many other ways.

It was a good time and I do it as often as I can lol.
This saw is a slabbing saw so not the best large geode cutter. The first geode is actually down the center. The 2nd is somewhat offset as it's very large. I debated not cutting it and saving it for a different saw I will build later on but the beer talked me into it. Luckily it is not a big cavity so it's not really that big of a deal. I am debating cutting the large one again though for kicks just to see if it does something else. I'll end up with a 2" hollow slab but heh that might be cool.
I have one keokuk that has 2 smaller football shaped nodules separated by a narrow part not sure what the heck to do with that one yet.
Well if it's a caterpillar hunter there's a few of them hanging out around the Pecan tree where I have the walnut caterpillar problem so that makes sense and now i'm glad I put him back out there.

I'm fascinated with the different types of asphalt machinery as well as railroad machines. Not so much in operating them though lol. I was union for 15 years. Nowadays I don't like union or nonunion it all sucks. LOL.
