Thanks, Chuck. The tumbles may have been yours, someone posted some cabs a week or so ago. Guess I missed Roy's deal, expect I'll probably see him this week.

Nice job on those. Lately it seems as if there are a lot of those jaspers being posted. Did someone uncover a new stash or something?

Scrolling down through and said Hot Damn! Jean found my mind that I lost years ago. Taking a closer look, however, I realized it was much too large to be my mind. Rats.
That's a really nice coral-all the ones we've found are just grey/brown. Great pics, thanks for sharing.

Very cool thread, thanks for posting this. I've dealt with cold, and small communities, but the extended period of dark would probably put me over the edge. Certainly a different lifstyle. Thanks for posting.

I hear people woke up to ice in their rock buckets today in Qz. I hope it warms up for the Pow Wow. One reason I go is to get out of freezing Cedar City, UT for a long weekend. Lynn I'm with you non that, Lynn. 0F here in Ruth, NV this morning, yesterday was -5. Today got up to 41, so that was nice.
Still, going to Quartzsite for a bit in January is nice-nicer when it's warm.

Always remember:
Safety Third
That said, Whatever you are comfortable with. I have great eyesight-to about 18 inches. My bifocals are adjusted accordingly, to rad I take my glasses off. Working up close I take my glasses off and wear safety glasses. Wear respirator or dust mask for long sessions or if the situation warrants, such as working dry. I never, ever wear gloves around any kind of rotating equipment. Never, ever wear rings. Someday I'll die, but it most likely won't be from grinding rocks. One of those things where everyone will have a different perspective. Not saying that you don't have some valid concerns, but messing with rocks is probably one of the least dangerous things I've done. Pay attention, be aware, use whatever PPE makes you feel comfortable.

One problem with this list-no room left for the cooler full of beer. Required by law on all off road excursions in CO.
At least when I was younger.

Rob Jugglerguy , I've got a couple of books on Jeeping and rockhounding in Colorado, if I can find them. Been awhile since I've been over there messing around and don't see it happening soon. PM me your address and I'll send them to you. Had a 1982 CJ-7 I bought new in the fall of 1981. Finally sold it in 2006, really wish I still had it. I'll rummage through my few remaining brain cells and see if I can recommend some routes for you. Russ Thanks Russ. I’ve never had a CJ, but I did learn to drive in a 1950 something Willy’s. There was one at the deer camp I hunted at as a kid. The owner got me driving around in circles in the lawn/field in front of the cabin. I think I was in second gear. After a couple laps, he jumped out while I was still rolling and told me to park it when I was done. Have you been on Imogene Pass?
Always wanted one of those old Willys. CJ-3B, small block Chevy, Turbo 400, Atlas box, Dana 60's front & rear, 5.13 gears, 35 inch tires...
Never did Imogene, nor most of the "famous" trails. Too much traffic. Sorry to hear that the Oh My God road has been widened and stuff-that was a great one to take visitors on. What part of Colorado are you planning to see?

If you don't have one already, you must have a winch. Pull yourself through or out of very difficult situations. A hi lift jack or two are also considered necessary. Then a high tensile strength tow strap is also required. Shovel(s) too. Additions: Not as important. Compressor so you can air down your tires. Ropes. Tool kit. Intake snorkel so you can cross deep water. Extra alternator .
