LOL at Uranus and general hilarity, should have guessed that would happen. All good. Peachfront and everybody else, post as many as you like, I want to come back to this page and admire often. It would give us a place on the creations page for new spheres too... really beautiful spheres so far, the form really shows off the materials they are made from. Keep posting (and thanks!)

I know many of the members here work hard making spheres, but we don't see very many photos of the finished product. I would love to see photos of everybody's spheres in as many different kinds of materials as possible... so much time and effort should be viewed and appreciated! thanks! (and if you have spheres which you didn't make, post those too?) I may have a new form of this rock disease... sphereitis? I know I am not alone!

a google search using the words 'stone and leather cuffs" brought up tons of examples which would give some ideas. I like the idea of a copper mount on leather... and the picture in that cab is really pretty! She has to love it!

photobucket periodically gives me fits, I am mostly on very early mornings when they are probably working on the system... I just wait a couple of hours or day and try again. Eventually it works. yeah, annoying. x100 or so...(insert mad face here)

so much beauty! The sound of the falls "in person" would mesmerize me and I'd never want to leave. So beautiful! beautiful script rock- it does sort of look like devil's toenails, but the devil's toenail rock I have seen still has pieces of shell in it... does that piece have shell or is it all turned to stone? LOL, I like the front rock sculpture, a stone woman ... those are cool. Were they there or did you take the time to make them? I see a lot of stacked stones on the beach but they are usually just towers.... fun to do. I like finding those a lot more than I like finding all the trash some people leave. Just a beautiful trip and beautiful photos, thanks for taking the time to post and explain. Visiting vicariously is the closest i'll get to a lot of places.

very pretty, the neat thing about the small rocks made into cabs is that you can always say they are one of a kind... no more like it waiting on slabs anywhere....

very nice. Now I expect to see earrings among your regular offerings, You may be surprised at how well they sell. Most women only have a few pendants, but most of us have loads of earrings!

Smithsonian Handbooks Rocks and Minerals by Chris Pellant is a good basic guide and reference. $22.00 got mine from Amazon.
The folks on this forum are a mighty source of information with combined years and years of experience in so many facets of rock hunting, rock working and related information. I would be surprised if somebody here could not answer every question you may have. Impressive collective knowledge and wisdom. Neat that you are doing this hobby together! welcome to the forum.

hard to tell but in that first photo the crystals look like they have grooves. Tourmaline can be found in the great lakes region, not usually clear/white though. tandl has commented on calc-silicate found in glacial transports here as well. Maybe he will check in on this.
