That is really cool. I have some peridot I want to try. What grit did you start with? Can't wait to see Lambert's work. Personal experience tells some precision cutters will trade cutting for material. I believe sunstone is a form of feldspar. Thanks Shotgunner! the 1st batch I tumbled I used 80 grit and lost quite a bit of material lol....so on this batch I started them off at 220 and kept them just a bit longer in my rotary...10 days to be exact...with plastic pellets....it worked for me...rounded the crystals nicely...still lost material but not too bad...

hi all,
I found this petwood from a local quarry....not sure what species but after grinding out the rough edges and polishing it a bit...came out looking like a giant tooth... so I side drilled it using a dremel and braided a hemp cord for it....I didn't polish it to a high gloss cause I wanted to save some of the finer details of the wood....hope y'all like it

hi all,
just wanna share some pics of a project I actually completed lol....most of the flat disc shaped materials I used were recycled vinyl beads from Nigeria...I used some tiger's eye beads and some jade barrel beads as focal points for the pieces, the black beads are made of hypersthene..... hope y'all like 'em

totally agree with you! Lambert industries is exactly who I sent my stones to be cut by... I really wanted to get em cut here but when I found out the prices...its a little prohibitive
joe
Good luck. Apparently they are very reputable. I envy you. Sounds like a great idea(and investment).
[/p]
Thank you Jamesp.... I"ll make sure to post some pics when I get them back

thank you Jamesp! you're absolutely right... I found out that by tumbling em first I can pick out the more solid crystals (little or no fracture) for faceting...the ones I sent out to be faceted went thru a little trip on my rock tumbler first
joe
I often coarse grind a batch of agates for a week or two, let them dry, and then address the fractures to see what stays or gets rebroken/ground. That is a lot of stones polished at one time. Why not, it is not that big a deal. Best to have good stuff if investing in facet work. I have heard on a company in Thailand that facets cheap(Lambert ??). Was amazed at their prices. totally agree with you! Lambert industries is exactly who I sent my stones to be cut by... I really wanted to get em cut here but when I found out the prices...its a little prohibitive

Those are perfect for faceting, show stopper tumbles. Seems like the fractures could be seen better after tumble polished to avoid when faceting. Looks like there is not many fractures at all. thank you Jamesp! you're absolutely right...
