Here's the ad pics- what do you think?
Context makes all the difference - definitely not a thunderegg center. Graveyard area looks like to me is correct.

Found the ads for both 1 and 2. Yes, 1 is regency rose hard to argue with that, but it seems to look a lot like a Priday Plume egg center...

This came with a few other pieces of equipment, several days ago. I'm baffled as to what it is, what' it's for. Other than being with all the other lapidary bits, and having the lortone logo on it I wouldn't be so curious about it. slighly domed on the ribbed side, rollers fit the side groove pretty nearly, but could be random other parts? Anyone recognize it?
There was a four station vertical flat lap piece of equipment that I didn't purchase, don't know if Lortone made one of those, or if it could have went to that somehow...

That is a nice one. At a good price, too. Bet you won't have it too much longer. you were right about that! Everyone must be finding really cool rocks they want to cut!

Man, I hate filling a "for sale" thread with superfluous comments, but if I was near you, I'd really, really be tempted. Good luck with the sale. Best time of year to visit Oregon! Take a Road trip! Actually I'll be over near Idaho next week if that's close enough

SOLD
Hi, Need to make room and pay off my larger saw. This was barely used when I picked it up a few years back, but it's sat on the garage shelf not getting as dirty as it deserves. Meant to replace my old ls12, but the old green one's worked so well, I'm happy to keep on with it. This runs quiet as can be, was manufactured in the US, nice US Baldor motor, Is in excellent shape. I just put a new 12" blade (crimped version) on it as it came without. Rails show zero signs of wear, carriage is tight. Feed motor works fine, and the rod/split nut threads look as new. Feed is nice and slow on these,3 or 4 rpm, the smooth cuts just seem to save a lot of polishing effort in my book.
Asking $950, priced well, but I'm not in a huge hurry to get rid of it... Pickup near Eugene OR.

Because they will all be flats, is there anything I different I will need to do? I have pellets and the ceramic media from rockshed if I need it. Flats like to stick together, the outer edges of the face will get polished before the center in that case. So have enough smalls/media, etc so you don't see them rolling around stuck face to face. (they like to stay that way once they've mated...

These came in a package deal, Not really enthusiastic about cleaning them up and trying to make them functional for local sale as a finished machine, but would like to help pay for my saw Anyone in search of a plain arbor shoot me an offer. (no motor, or stones/wheels/hoods) shipping from 97455. Took a pic of the Hillquist, but the Lortone was buried under a few things, will get to it tomorrow. The Lortone runs very smooth, quieter than my own, arbor. Hillquist feels good but I didn't spin it with a motor. The lot was owned by a machinist, two saws, three arbors all the other bearings sound perfect. The Lortone NS-8 is still in their catalog if you want the specs: [/div]

I'm looking to buy 50lbs of 46/70 grit. Kingsley North has it for $92.50 + about $18 for shipping. Are there any better deals out there? I'm in a small town. No abrasive dealers (that I know of) nearby, so it'll have to be shipped. Lynn
The Abrasive Armory folks have always treated me well. Double bagged, reasonable price. Mostly sells through ebay these days. 40lbs I believe is what fits in the large flat rate?

Yeah, those ebay prices were giving me sticker shock! Lots of folks just flipping items with a markup on ebay these days, no longer a 'garage sale only' place. But the occasional deals do occasionally pop up

Can you still collect StinkingWater Pet Wood? or is it pretty tough to find? Love the golden colors from that area, have to plan a trip if there's still decent specimens to be had...

John Rowland sent used saws to China to get the copies made. IMO what he did to the HP name with his saws is shameful, what he did to an existing company with the Lortone ripoff saws should be criminal. Sad indeed. I try to steer folks clear of the 'New' HP, Have to think of a better acronym than Horse Product...

Thanks for the updates. The HP saws look sooo identical, it's hard to imagine they didn't have the plans, or want to modify a few things? who knows. So does that make the not so old made in the USA Lortone slab saws more valuable, or less since getting parts now might be an issue? hmmm.

Any one know the status of Lortone (not) producing slab saws?
Maybe it's old news that I just missed. A year or so ago, I thought the Highland Park designs looked completely like the Lortone Saws, and wondered about it. I have a nice Lortone LS-12 I was going to sell, and was looking for pricing info yesterday, noticed that Lortone has no slab saws on their web site, or listed in their print catalog. The HP saws look like clones of the old Lortone designs (even the classic st-10 10" slab saw). I wonder if they sold HP the rights or something? Probably cheaper to manufacture with Chinese labor than could have been had in Seattle.
Just Curious.

New saw came with some extra slab grabbers. Anyone need one? both have about 6" screws, one lightly used, other doesn't look used at all. I can disassemble ship them in the cheap priority mail envelope. email is best, but I'll check back here every day or two. Only $20 + shipping
