The bonus question is with the 8" pulley and the 3" pulley located shaft center 10.5 inches from each other - what size V-belt would I need? Wonder if Siri could figure that one out? lots of vbelt calculators out there... www.calculatoredge.com/mech/vbelt%20length.htm

cubic is for large volume shippers (>50,000 annually) so if Pirate ship becomes the third party shipper (basically aggregating all us small persons) Just wonder what happens in the instance that you need an insurance claim?
Might be moot for most, USPS rate of successful deliveries is pretty high, so just write off the odd one and move on, but if you're shipping high $, might be a consideration.

So I have my DIY Richardson dry sander/shop vac lap tool built and working now. It works great! I have a pile of 7" #80 and #120 discs for it (SiC). I need some SiC #220 and #600 7" discs for finer sanding. Anyone know of a good place to get cloth backed sanding discs? Richardson wants a buck a shot, but GranQuartz has #220 discs for $23.50 for a pack of 50, plus shipping. They do not have #600 listed in stock. Amazon is all over the map, and I cannot find a good deal on discs there. Not saying that they are not there, I just cannot find the finer grit discs on Amazon. I found some #120 on Amazon ($24 for 50), but I do not need that. I found some #320 on Ebay, but I do not need that either. I'll probably need some in a few months, if you can post a summary that'd be great. As I recall finding 7", Silicon carbide, cloth, non velcro was not easy. thx.

I visited Harbor Freight this a.m., after seeing a notice here that a 50lbs bag of #70 AO was $44.49 so I made a purchase. Then they gave me a better deal, @39.99, then a discount on that to $31.99, and with tax added the final bill was $34.55. Go now the deal is only good this month. I'm guessing the 8$ off is a 20% off coupon, do you know how they gave you the first discount? for that price I might have to give it a whirl...

Question what is that green cap on your LOT 0? How does that work? Thanks ~Duke First one I bough came with a Tuna can for a lid - 3D printed that green one, rubber band loops to keep it on, but never use them any more, it's pretty snug and I haven't had a lid come off yet.

Bummer on the weld breaking. I've picked up a couple used versions, the fans are always in various states of wobblieness... seems like it shouldn't be a hard physics problem to solve, hmmm. You sure went all out, I don't like dealing with concrete or blocks, so I usually chop some 2x6 make a box and put a 50lb bag of sand in that and screw the tumbler to to top. Lazy, just use what I have at hand.

Since this thread was just pulled up for another reference - My couple experiments with AO80 were OK - Certainly less work, but I didn't feel like the shine was as 'nice' as the traditional method, so I've gone back to the four step method. FWIW. Loto instructions while I'm here. just testing out pdfs on the new cloudinary upload... Tommy maybe you want to place this pdf somewhere as a repository, I'm known for cleaning house at times... hmm looks like pdf's just give a link rather than a image.... And Tommy is there anyway to see the pics I've already uploaded, (asking a lot, and not under your control) but suppose I want to link something I already uploaded, do I have to go to cloudinary to get a link I suppose? res.cloudinary.com/korimako/image/upload/v1533233164/gmilftelixqjmpp9fqrb.pdf

Definitely no babysitting the Lot O with the new process, Dave. Starting with AO keeps from having to watch the first stage so closely. The Sic 120/220 stage was giving me trouble keeping a consistent roll when it dried out. I never could get it going again like I wanted it to. Skipping that and doing AO 80 eliminated that problem. I don't think it dries out as bad and it's easier to control the roll. I usually experience the same with the SiC, too much mud and the roll slows way down before the 48 hr mark. Water doesn't seem to help. Looking forward to trying the AO 80. My gathering of info says about 2tsp per 4.5lb loto barrel is about right, 2-5 days. Then Polish. Gospel of jamesp even though he said 4T/14lb above (I think he's been inhaling too much glass fumes - was always 2T in his previous posts AO22 vs AO80 maybe?) thx
