Yeah, that last one is pretty tight, but an over all impressive batch.
Love that Hell's Canyon though.

Mike, that's a sweet batch. You should be proud of the work you've put in on this hobby since you started hanging around here. This and your other accompanying posts are validation for all the patience, persistence and dedication. Great stuff!

Thank you, sir! I'm still critical of the little imperfections that show up in the pictures, but it's all a learning process. I just went out to the shop and after a month and 3/4 I had a Broken belt on a thumler I opened it up and the Rose Quarts I was doing is finished and ready for the UV-18 and is 4 other containers full I have Mahogany Obsidian, Snowflake, Jaspers, Rose Quarts., and Mex Lace that will be going in the finished stages plus most of my rotary tumblers need to be open on June 4th and they will be done all total being over 100 lbs of rock! Whew, you said it!

The fun part (for you) will be the cleaning of the material and seeing that it already has a great shine. I think you'll be pretty happy. Don't settle for that, however. Run the polish stage. I ended up stripping all the doors off the kitchen cabinets today and got about half way thru sanding them... my point is it looks like its gonna run for a couple more days glad to know I'm probably not ruining the load haha Let it roll...

If you have run 500 for five days, you can definitely skip 1000. You are probably showing a decent shine already. If you are going to let it sit for a while before running a couple days in polish, I'd definitely do a quick rinse and fill the bowl with water.

I have a mini sonic and a lot-o and prefer the lot-o of those two. Glad to hear you are going to give tumbling a whirl. I have never tried tumbling jewelry in a vibe. I always use a dedicated rotary barrel and stainless shot for that. Have you heard a vibe will be better for jewelry? While I highly recommend a loto I will warn that the initial setup is more difficult. The loto needs to be mounted to a 40 pound cement block to keep the vibrations correct. There are several detailed posts on here about mounting methods, Chuck Sorry, Chuck. I should have been more clear. I want to tumble small stones for pendants and earrings. I have a drill now. I was hoping to shape and tumble polish. BikerRandy did quickie jewelry with a vibrating tumbler and it was really impressive. I know you're not talking about the same thing exactly, but I like to tumble up small stones. Not really shaped in any way and not meant for jewelry, but they represent a running history of about every material I've tumbled. It was mostly saw scraps and busted pieces from breaking down material. I dumped a Tupperware container full of them out on the floor for some quick pics. Nothing to reference the size of the pile of rocks, except my leg cast.
Quite a variety of stuff
It's fun to run your hands through a big pile like this.

If you ever start selling in person at shows...get used to it. Everyone wants a "deal" these days. Just set your limits. You can always say no. I am the world's worst haggler. I am not and never have been comfortable with it. My dad traveled the world and considered it a sport. He loved it. That didn't rub off on me. Not in person, anyway. Haggling is definitely one of those where you're either in or out. Nobody just somewhat likes doing it. I detest it myself. Auctions, that's the other one I hate. If I want it and can't 'buy it now', I'm moving on. But a lot of people swear by it.

Mike, unfortunately you are going to have to capture your reflection in all future photos. Everyone is very impressed with your silhouette. It does look like Devil's Tower. Your piece is taking a nice shine, will come out a winner. Now quit peeking, they aren't going anywhere.

Pear trees in bloom and cattails popping. Beautiful. Are those Bradford Pear? I think the city of Va Bch has stock in those or something. They plant them everywhere. Yes, but the city has started planting Cleveland Pear because they are a bit sturdier and less prone to splitting during our ice storms.

I has a tendency to undercut when polishing, I don't tumble but that is what I have found working with it. Same. So, a beach ball sized chunk of Maury Mt.? That has to be impressive.

Exactly, Pat . In a previous life, I worked at a florist. If cattails were used in arrangements, they were sprayed with a fixative to prevent explosions. (Some people don't know of their messy tendencies! I learned quickly about spraying them, lol.) Cattails, lilac bushes and raspberries all remind me of my childhood. We used to love playing with cattails. Pear trees in bloom and cattails popping.

Slabs are kind of like chips...or cookies...you can't just have one So True!! I'm a tumbler and Maury doesn't always cooperate, but I love it. It's one of the prettiest materials, in my opinion. Always enjoy getting some new pieces. Can't wait to see the rest of that rock, it's a nice one. You can send it to me for it's own photo session.
