I usually use WD-40 for cleaning up sludge on old equipment. I buy the gallon size can and use a spritzer bottle to apply it. More economical that buying the aerosol cans of WD-40 since with a spritzer bottle not as much gets wasted from being too atomized and floating away from where you want it to land. Larry C. Never heard of using WD-40 to dissolve gunk. I will try it out. Lynn

This is the best time to slab. While it is hot getting wet helps cool me down. I hate slabbing in the winter since I hate being cold and cold and wet is even worse. Since when can you get cold in Vegas? I love these slabs. Lots of beautiful color. Do any need stabilization? I remember the stuff you showed me at Boca Park was a bit crumbly. Lynn

I bought a used Raytech 10" slab/trim saw that hasn't been cleaned in forever. The sludge smells like kerosene or some other stinky solvent. What's the best solvent that'll remove the sludge without stripping the paint? Lynn

Without mentioning the squirrel or hockey cards, I like the silver! I bet you're jazzed that you found it yourself. Lynn

Just last night I was sanding some larger cabs on my 3" wide expandos. I was thinking how nice it is to have such wide wheels. It's a lot more comfortable to have wide wheels. Go for it! Lynn

Beautiful cabs. It's good to see the material you bought a Quartzite turned into cabs. I'd love to see more as you finish them. Lynn

James, What if you pre-bake the opal in a toaster oven before firing? Will that eliminate the water? Lynn

beefjello - There's got to be a story of how you acquired that chunk of Tiger Iron. Enquiring rockhounds want to know! Lynn

It looks like some variations of Fancy Jasper from India. It comes from the same location as Bloodstone. Lynn

Thanks, Bill.
It looks like 2 of the chunks are sold. I hope it was someone on RTH & that we get to see finished cabs from them. Lynn

Best I can do is group shots. I sorted and photographed my cabs in riker boxes. Most are in these two boxes but I found stragglers as I continued sorting. They look wonderful! If you ever plan to sell them, let me know. I may buy a couple or a few. Lynn

I'm not. There were hardly any Morrisonite cabs sold on ebay at any price. Buying good cabbing material on ebay would cost about $20+ per cab and with my time the selling price of the cab would make for very little profit. I have never tried to sell, but have gifted cabs. When I was working I would rather spend my limited free time creating than selling. I'm retired now and have more time. I have about 80 Morrisonite cabs cut and I will explore the market before cutting my best Morrsionite. Yes, We would love to see close-up pictures of 80 Morrisonite cabs! Thanks so much. Lynn

Sorry, I only took a couple of pictures - one of what I took & one of some of what I put in.
What I took, clockwise from upper left - 3 Ohio Flint, Rocky Butte jasper, Sagenite?, Zayamara agate (same as Madagascar agate?), Turitella, One labeled as Coprolite, but I think it's Barite.
What I added: All Indian Blanket jasper
I also put in some slabs of Picasso marble, Tiffany Stone, Cedar City agate, & Holt Canyon agate.
Also rough of Cedar City agate, Holt Canyon agate, Grape agate, Pescadero beach tumbled agates, & Moqui Marbles. There may be more, but I seem to be losing my marbles, so I'm not sure. Lynn
