Gonna have to travel out East one of these days and visit AzRockGeek to get her cut Heck Yeah!!! Bring her by, I have not had the 24 fired up in years, good excuse to dust it off. Plus, we can plan a Burro Creek trip soon. Look's like a KILLER trip to Brenda.

Picked up a couple of slabs at a estate sale today, check out the original price for these slabs. Did not get them for this price, but still got a good deal.

Did you try your local hardware store or farm supply? The ACE by me has a real good selection of springs. I know that Lortone no longer sales the saws, but i would guess that they still have a good selection of parts, might be worth a phone call or email.

You could probably put a locking collar on one side and spring with a locking collar on the other side.

A bad alignment should not cause a wobble. Are you bearings tight? Can you move the arbor from side to side or top to bottom?
If it is bent, I believe HPLAPIDARY sells replacements, either that or find a local machinist.
Good Luck

Thank you for taking us along on your journey. A rattle snake at my front door at 4AM might freak me out a little bit. Looks like a really clean saw, perfect for a restore.

I have a date to go there in a couple weeks. I think we'll make it a mini vacation and visit the petrified forest while we're at it. Time for some pic's.

What is wrong with it besides being old? I would just rewire with a three wire, add a ground. I would personally buy every poly arbor i found for the price you mentioned, especially if it has the splash shields.

Nice cab Brian, you are motivating me to uncover/dig out my cabbing machine. Too bad I there is not enough time left to enter the NW Jasper cabbing contest.

Is the rock hitting the blade stiffener or the slab tray on the other side of the blade? If you index the rock away from the blade, does the carriage freely move the full length of the rails?
Is it a large rock? Maybe your blade is dull and/or your oil is dirty and not properly lubricating.

If the slab is for display, use a saw or grinder and trim/grind it off. If the slab is for cabbing or sitting in a box in your shed use a tile nipper or slide your rock hammer along the slab and bust it off. (Depending on price of slab, expensive slabs I would grind it off).
When I use to sell slabs at shows, people would want them removed, I would point at something the opposite direction to distract them and smack it off with a hammer. LOL

If you decide to go with a high speed dry sand/polish, you are still going to need to have some type of polish phase for the best shine. Use your flat lap for polishing and dry sand to prep them.
