A word about tumbler safety, be careful of belts! I'm building a tumbler. Having built two previous tumblers without belt guards, I never thought about it. The new one was running fine and I was making some adjustments. I made the mistake of checking the belt tention of the secondary shaft drive pulley...with the tumbler running. Next thing I know, my thumb slips, the belt grabbed hold and ran it around the pulley. It all happened instantly. Two stitches and a fair amount of pain later I had learned a lession. So here I sit typing with my left hand with a thumb eating tumbler waiting for me. Unprotected belts are dangerous!

Sounds sorta like something I did when I was younger. I was checking the tension of a bicycle chain, forgot to stop pedaling. Yep, 30 years later my finger still feels different than the others. I guess the point is that "Anything" with unprotected belts and chains (like slabs saws) can be dangerous. Yep, we've gotta be careful for sure.

That's a very good heads up! I Lortone pulley wheels have very sharp edges too. I cut myself good once while changing one. Dirty cut and hard to clean up too....Mel

Loose clothing can be dangerous around moving parts too.
