I recently sold Naturenut a large flatrater full of Selenite and an assortment of all sorts of other gemstone. She and her S.O. have been working it like mad, and she's been emailing me pics of the finished cabs! So, I'd like to share their wonderful artwork with you. I love this one ... A-Grade Chrysocolla from The Blue Mule, crafted in a beautiful freeform design: And here's a teardrop design which was cut to feature the transitional textures in the Blue Mule Chrysocolla: These are freeforms of more Blue Mule Chrysocolla. On the left is A-Grade, and on the right is B-grade: For these two cabs, they used agate from the location discovered by Steve (northshorerocks) and I, which we appropriately call "Agate Road". I knew that this is some nice material, but the crafting in these is what really makes them Gems: I included some rare O-w-l-h-o-l-e Springs Agate in the box, and I'm REAL glad that I did! Look at what a beautiful job they did with it!... I sometimes trade materials with folks here in Pahrump, just so that I can pass-along some more unusual material here on the forum, and I put some nice chunks in this box. Again, they really performed their magic with this stuff!... Thank you both SO much for making the extra effort to take pics of your beautiful artwork to share. Seeing finished gemstone creations makes all of my efforts worthwhile, and you've made an old man very happy. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Jo, you should post more often your cabs, these one are so beautiful! There are such amazing colors in these cabs, but you also made a perfect framing on that black and white "eye of the storm" in the 4th pic.
Thanks for sharing Michael.

She got really good, really fast! Those are all beautiful You gonna wrap them? I may have mentioned before, only a handful of people can take a stone from the rough to a finished wrapped work of art and now you're one of them!

Thanks! I remember what a thrill it was when Randy and Amber and Tony showed me my stuff cabbed and I wanted to do it for MJ. Really botched the last box he sent because it took longer in my vibe (had to run a big batch) and I started getting mixed up on what was who's! LOL. Adrian, I took a page from your book and already reworked the flaws I saw when I saw the pics. I'm working out some photo problems, and I will post more, I promise. Curt, Tony, Amber, Steve, Gem and Nate... Thanks, means more than you'll ever know. Randy, you're too good to me! Yes, just got a new batch of wire in and I have about 9 more of MJ's to cut and cab, and then I'll start wrapping! But, without great material, my skills don't shine as well. MJ has been putting his heart and soul into finding better and better stuff. Seeing it finished helps him in his quest. Huggs! Jo

Those cabs are amazing and I know what a beautiful job Jo does. That freeform on the left in the sixth pic has to be my favorite in color and shape. It is incredable.

Great work Jo! You did these in the vibe? They don't look it at all. I would have figured they would undercut in there. You must have that down pat at this point. The shape on all your ovals is darn near perfect. You must be giving that cab machine quite a work out. My fave is the first one, with those inclusions it looks a lot like adventurine. Are they pyrite?

Tony ... "My fave is the first one, with those inclusions it looks a lot like adventurine. Are they pyrite?"
According to Mel (whose word is absolute GOLD to me), an accurate technical description for most of the Blue Mule Mine "chrysocolla" is copper oxide impregnated quartzite. About 99% of the copper oxide in this material is chrysocolla, but there are also trace inclusions of malachite, limonite, copper, etc. The large quartz granules (quartzite) are the reasons for the cool inclusional effects, as well as the great sparkle of the finished cabs.

Opps my bad. I misunderstood when you wrote
MJ, thanks for the description of the material. I agree Mel's word is gold and I'm always glad when he chimes in and shares his vast knowledge. I loved the stuff I got from you and one of these day's I'll find some time to cab again.
