Here's my first cab being completely finished with diamond. I recently made some leather pads and ordered some cheap diamond paste off ebay to charge them with. The paste came in the mail today. I charged up the pads and here's what came of it... I'm sold, that's for sure! I Would also like to thank Amber (Bejewelme) for the willow creek slab. I'm excited to get more done now! Thanks for looking. Nate

Awesome Nate! I've never understood buying this kind of polish for soft stones, that kind for hard stones, and another kind for medium stones. Diamond rocks!

Thanks guys.
Curt, I have only used AO polish for everything I've done, but realy hated the softer stones or anything with a small fracture or tiny pits or fibers (especially tigereye) harboring polish. That led to this endeavor, and I can say I wish I had done it months ago!

Awesome cab Nate!!! I'm hooked on diamond paste as well with my dremel cabs. It seems to shine up everything I've tried with it!

Beautiful cab Nate! Just starting the move to diamonds and after what was said here in this thread I think it is the right move.

Excellent cab. I've been using nothing but diamond paste on a leather wheel for years and I haven't met a stone yet that I couldn't polish. No fuss, no muss!

Thanks everyone, I am sold on diamond for sure! I gotta say, as I charged the leather pads I thought to myself "there's no way this little amount of paste is gonna do anything to a cab. and if it does, it'll take forever." Well, I proved myself wrong! I'm still in awe on how well it works LOL.

Nate, That is a beauty. What diamond grit did you end with? I love polishing with TO but not with stones that have teeny tiny pits. When you charge your leather with the paste, do you add anything with it? And do you slightly mist spray the pad or run it dry.
I have 14k paste that I have not tried yet and some leather pads. Time to start using it. lol

Nate, That is a beautiful willow and you really captured a great scene in it! I don't know about anyone else but I use diamond paste on muslin pads and I use a little spray of liquid wrench on the pad for a lubricant (silicone spray). It helps the stone glide over the diamond paste and seems to give the stone a little extra time before becoming too hot to handle. I use very little of the spray because I still want to get that little bit of drag that you feel when the stone is polishing. I always wash the cabs off with warm water and soap afterwards to make sure it is really polished and the shine is not the lubricant. Fran

Thanks guys! Lori, I ended with 60,000 grit paste. I use silicone spray to lubricate the pads, with no water.
Fran, do you wash the cab between stages of the diamond paste or just at the end?
