Glad it helped Kim!
There are a couple of other things to keep an eye out for with these things so let me know if you run into any other problems or find anything else suspicious while you're in there.
If it turns out that you did in fact loose the C-clip and you can't find it then you can use one of those small slot head screwdrivers like the one in my first pic to pop the C-clip off the other end of the drive roller (or drone roller, they're all the same) and you can take it in to the hardware store with you to find a replacement.
I don't know the Lortone part# for it but here are the measurements in case it helps:
Outside Diameter: 0.5"
Inside (groove) diameter: 0.25"
Thickness: 0.6mm, (you can get away with a thicker 1/32")
This is a pretty standard size so if you can't get it as a replacement part from somewhere rock related then you could probably find them on the shelf at a well stocked hardware store.
It's not hard to get the clips off if the slot is the right size, a larger jewelers screwdriver or smaller hobby size flat head should work well.
Although they are called 'C-clips', they should really be called 'E-clips' since there is another prong in the middle. I guess they're called C-clips to avoid confusing astronomers.
There are two places to either side of the middle prong where you can slide the flat head in. To get the clip off put your finger over the back side of the clip (so it doesn't fly away) and start torquing the driver to put the outward pressure closest to the center prong, or "torque right on the right & torque left on the left".
To put a clip back on simply drop it straight down into the grove and apply increasing pressure directly downward with the flat side of the driver until it pops in and you're done.
